A missing mother of 3 from Victoria, Australia. On February 4 2024, Samantha Murphy left her Ballarat home, for a run. She failed to return home and missed a family event and Victoria Police opened an investigation. Searches did not find any evidence of what could have happened to Samantha. Victoria Police stated that they believed she was dead. Some of her belongings were found approximately 12 miles south of Ballarat.
GPS records suggest that Samantha ran 4.3 mile through Woowookarung Regional Park to Mount Clear. It's suggested that at this point there could have been an anomaly or disturbance in the data. Mount Clear is home to the Canadian State forest, a vast and dense mass of woodland.
On 6 March 2024, Patrick Orren Stephenson, aged 22 years from Scotsburn was arrested in connection with Samantha's disappearance. The next day, he was charged with her murder.
On the 29 May 2024, Samantha's wallet, containing an identity card was found on the bank of a dam at a property near Durham Lead. Samantha Murphy's body to date (4.12.2025), has yet to be found.
Last week (26.11.2025), detectives conducted a new search on dense bushland in the Enfield State Park area.
