I just started Invisalign and my mouth is hurting where my elastics attach, has anyone had this and can recommend what to do? I'm assuming some wax but it don't know a good one to get.

Also, any tips on getting them in and out? I'm finding it really hard even with a tool.

Hi, I’m a dentist who does Invisalign. First thing don’t panic, this is normal. It normally takes a few days or even up to a week for your mouth to adjust. If you can get hold of some orthodontic wax you can pop that over the attachments for while you’re eating and try to keep your aligners in as much as possible as that stops them rubbing. The first aligner is always the worst, it’s gets easier. I’m sure your dentist/orthodontist will be happy to see you if things don’t settle.

Aww it is rubbish at first. It took me 10 minutes to take them out and in the first few days but you soon get much faster. Seconds. I don't have any particular tips, you just have to be brave and find the way that works best for you. I was convinced I was going to pull all my teeth out but I didn't. Don't worry.

And yes they hurt in random places. Order some dental wax and teething gel or mouth ulcer gel. That gets better too.

I love my new straight teeth. I love biting into something and seeing a nice circular bite. Weird but satisfying.

Sticking there. It's totally worth it.

I had Invisalign but didn't have any elastic, just attachments on my teeth that the aligners clip onto but I presume it's a similar thing. I had a small bit of rubbing and my dentist just gave me a tub of wax to put on the bit that was rubbing as it was just a slightly sharp bit of plastic. The aligners the week after were fine so hopefully it's short term irritation!
