Has anyone had any success from contacting the CEO of a housing association?

I’ve been told to email the CEO of my housing association. I’m overcrowded with my 13 year old son he has ADHD and a 5 year old daughter. Speaking to my housing manager she said we won’t be moved even though I have all the medical letters and my own mental health issues. She has suggested I private rent or swap. I’ve been trying to to swap for years and no one is interested

just wondering if anyone has had any luck going down this route.
thanks in advance

Involve your local MP and ask them to contact the CEO to support your case.

But they can only move you if they have a larger vacant property, what is it you want them to do.

thank you @Greenwitchart I contacted the MP earlier in the year and he wasn’t much help at all. I guess I could try again

I’ve dealt with some in a professional capacity previously and I wouldn’t say it will have any impact tbh, they will just kick the contact down the food chain to be dealt with by customer services and/or housing officers. Who is suggesting you contact them?

Are you in a one or two bedroom property?

stressedandamess · 04/12/2025 13:53

@TidyDancer
im in a 2 bed flat.
My daughter was conceived from trauma so I did not make myself intentionally overcrowded. (I get this thrown at me a lot 😢)

an ex employee of my local council said I should email the ceo to see if he could do anything. I figured it was a long shot but I thought I’d ask

3 of you in a 2 bed flat? It doesn’t sound more crowded than the majority of people I know. Personally I have 4 of us in a 2 bed flat. It’s not ideal but we get on with it.
I doubt you will be high up priority to move. Obviously it depends where you are but I think most areas expect you to use living room as extra bedroom before being rehoused. Could this be an option to give you some more space maybe?

have the followed proper procedures? So they have vacant properties?

the ceo can’t circumvent policy or skip you up the queue

BoarBrush · 04/12/2025 20:17

They'll tell you to sleepin the living room, which is fair enough when we have genuine homeless people needing a roof over their head.

I agree your email will go on a pile of hundreds if not thousands of others wanting the same for similar reasons. It’s nothing drastic in terms of the housing crisis. Give them a room each and you fashion another solution if they really desperate cannot share maybe
