D of E help! Political volunteering?

DS14 still needs to find something to do for his Volunteering component for his D of E. He loves politics, and would like to help our local MP with leafleting etc.
Would this be allowed by D of E? (MP is a tentative yes, if it’s allowed!)

I'd say that's not really in the spirit of volunteering.

I don’t know-but I hope not!

Rather than canvassing, can he not ask to volunteer in the constituency office?

I don’t have my supervisor log in anymore but any staff involved can check for you. Pretty sure it’s no from what I can remember. It has to benifit the community and can’t be linked to a bussiness

Thanks all. Sounds like it might not work then. It’s a shame -DS loves politics and just wants to be involved. (And some would say keeping Reform out IS in the interest of the community, but I’ll keep that thought to myself!)

Nothing to stop him volunteering anyway….

He would no doubt learn a lot more if he went to the constituency office. There are a lot of issues such as dealing with people's dogs if he did leafleting. Also these days some people do make remarks when given leaflets. If he helped in the office he could write about who he met, the tasks he was given and what he learnt.
