What are your plans for January?

Everyone plans and gets excited for Christmas. I find January a slog. Getting back to work/school routine, darkness and cold. It would be nice to have a plan for January too.
A mixture of all the healthy reset that everyone seems to do but with something to look forward to as well would be the ideal for me.
Ideally, I should use some of my Christmas budget to book something January.
Does anyone have any plans they’d like to share?

I MUCH prefer January to December. Christmas is so depressing.

I’m looking forward to the early bulbs coming up and am going to book a week away in either bastard hot sunshine or a UK cottage in a rainy, windy, hilly spot.

Can’t wait for January.

Going to Lanzarote for a week at the end of January!!! We can't go anywhere too hot or too busy in Summer as older teen (autistic) cannot tolerate it, so decided on a bit of winter sun. We are taking both kids out of school (live in Ireland so school attendance isn't policed in the same way), and they will catch up on missed work on their mid-term break. Really looking forward to it.

January is a good time for getting away in our Moho.

After all the excitement of Christmas, when things are tidied away and we like a few short breaks to get out & about, visiting places that are quiet at that time of the year.

I’m leading a 10 mile walk with my over 40’s women-only walking group.

Sue Perkins is touring. I’m actually seeing her in February but thought I’d mention it as she’s doing it in January too.

Seeing people more! Retail at Christmas means you miss every weekend and night meet up. It sucks!!!

FindMyDrive · 02/12/2025 12:18

Love all the trips away but I can’t do that unfortunately. Joining a walk sounds like an excellent idea. I’ll see if there’s anything not too far.
@TryingatleastEnjoy! You deserve it after the crazy rush.

I plan to rest!
I’m starting a short course at the college (one evening a week for 10 weeks).
I have a spa day booked.
I am meeting friends for a long walk and then we’re all coming to mine’s for soup.
I took one week annual leave for the allotment jobs I have.

I have a few meet ups with friends that we weren’t able to fit in before Christmas.
Hopefully the weather will be a bit brighter to get out for some nice walks.
I go away in February so I have that to look forward to.

To get super fit! I know it’s a cliche for January but I’ve been using my home rowing machine basically everyday for the past two months and improving on it. So it’s something I want to continue. I have booked into an introductory bouldering class at my local climbing centre in January. I hope to start that as a hobby.
