I've split with my partner of 15 years. We have an 11 year old and an 8 month old. We have a joint mortgage with almost the full amount outstanding (lived here a year). He isn't selfish with money so I'm not particularly worried about that but he is also a gambling addict. I could do with signing onto to uc but due to the size of the house (kids can't share as the rooms are tiny, impossible to fit 2 beds into one room, baby is in with me and ex is on the sofa). How on earth can I prove separate lives in this situation? His clothes are in the built in wardrobe as there's nowhere else for them to go. Eldest has no idea what's going on yet. It's such a mess.

He needs to move out.

Tdcp · 01/12/2025 10:14

He won't and I can't make him. I won't move because we're on the schools doorstep for primary, secondary and nursery, and tbh I don't see why me and the kids should.

How many rooms are there?
If you share with the baby can ex have the baby's room?

This is actually a good idea. I'm not sure he'll be on board with it as he's currently decorating it for the baby but I can certainly suggest it. My heads a bit of a mess right now and I just didn't think of it so thank you.
