A simple evening boosted my mood so much!

I just had a rare session of very simple contentment!

I was in the kitchen making raspberry muffins and a curry while listening to Kate Thornton on Greatest Hits Radio. She was playing the top ten from 1990, I was 14 that year and a avid radio taper! The songs all took me back to a happy time. I knew all the words so I sang and danced along making good food that will do a couple a teas this week. Accompanied by a glass of red.

I usually have a slightly panicky regretful feeling on Sunday evenings. Maybe this is my recipe for a feelgood Sunday!

That sounds like a lovely way to spend a Sunday evening! Try it again next week and see if you have cracked it

That sounds like a really great evening, definitely worth repeating! What was no.1?

This is so heartwarming

I love those countdown shows on GHR 5-7 on Sundays (the time slot for the top 40 countdown, back in the day). They do two different years every week and the 80s and 90s ones are brilliant.

The last song I heard was Ice Ice Baby. I did the running man, then my food was ready so I went to eat. I think it was number 1.

So enjoyable with little tidbits from Smash Hits! It's perfectly tailored for my demographic!

Ice Ice Baby was No 1 when DD1 was born on Dec 15th 1990

That’s given me a proper laugh.

I always find that a pre-dinner cocktail and a repeat of Bullseye makes my Sunday a good one

Handeyethingyowl · 30/11/2025 20:07

I do this every Sunday if I can, it makes me happy too - 5-7pm cooking stuff, tonight a casserole and a crumble. Little glass of wine. I listen to pick of the pops usually, love GHR though so will give theirs a try.

I was also an avid radio taper of the early 90s! Sitting by the stereo of a Sunday evening, with a finger on the “record” button hoping to get as much of the song as possible with as little of the DJ talking as possible — good times 👍😀

You need to listen to Fearne Cotton's sounds of the 90s on bbc sounds app. I love to listen to it whilst cooking and having a dance. Every song evokes such strong memories.
