In the cupboard where the kitchen bin is. The mop heads are detachable and get washed after use.

QueenStevie · 30/11/2025 11:21

In the garage.

We have an old school metal mop bucket and "string" mop and it lives outside the back door from the kitchen

stealthsquirrelnutkin · 30/11/2025 15:31

Between the toilet and sink in the downstairs bathroom. With the mop propped by the handle so it stands up in the bucket allowing the mop head to dry between use. The mop head gets washed in the washing machine when needed.

Officially, on a couple of hooks in the shed. But it’s actually more likely to be propped up outside the back door because I couldn’t be bothered.

Twoshoesnewshoes · 30/11/2025 15:49

I have a spray mop, so no bucket. The pads come off after each clean and go in the washing machine.

OooPourUsACupLove · 30/11/2025 15:51

Mop head hangs over the curved utility tap to dry, then goes in the bucket when it's dry. We always mop with a squirt of bleach in the water so even if it takes a while to dry it never gets smelly.

OttersMayHaveShifted · 30/11/2025 15:54

In the garage. The mop has machine-washable pads.

One pad on its own?

No, in with everything else

I've got a pvc storage shed outside the back door for things like that. I've got no useable cupboards in the house and I'm not leaving anything on display.

ReignOfError · 30/11/2025 16:13

I hang it over the washing line to dry, and then it goes in the understairs cupboard. If the weather is shit, I just shove it in the bit of the bucket you use to wring it out.

Ithinkofawittyusernamethenforgetit · 30/11/2025 16:15

Now my old neighbour would’ve said in the garden. Yes - with the greying, wet head hanging over my fence! Lovely view from the kitchen and that bit of fence rotted away 🙄

PocketSand · 30/11/2025 17:53

I have a spray mop too. Machine washable pad. No bucket to store or mop head to dry out that inevitably has to be replaced because it smells. Game changer.

JBJ · 30/11/2025 18:14

I have a spray mop with washable pads which lives in the corner of the downstairs loo (which was formerly the under stairs cupboard). The vacuum cleaner, on the other hand, has no particular home and is the bane of my life! Constantly swearing at Henry for being in the way.

MaplePumpkin · 30/11/2025 18:18

We’ve recently discovered those mops that you keep the water/cleaning fluid inside it, with washable pads. It’s fabulous. Don’t have to mess about filling my bucket with water and all that faff, just pick up the mop, press the spray button and wipe. We have a little cove next to the fridge that leads to the back door, I just keep it propped up there for easy access.

TheCurious0range · 30/11/2025 18:20

Don't have one, have one of those flashmop things with the washable cloth detachable head thing and a shark steam scrubber with washable pads , they all go in the washing machine and the actual mops live in the big kitchen cupboard where the boiler is

hiredandsqueak · 30/11/2025 19:02

We have a storage room off the hallway that houses my collection of floor cleaners (I think I have a habit of buying that I need to stop) and my subscribe and save deliveries of loo roll, kitchen roll etc

Caspianberg · 30/11/2025 19:12

Doesn’t it get wet and dirty in the garden?

I don’t keep wet dirty mop head on mop after use.
i have vileda mop and bucket, the mop handle is telescopic so I fold down smaller when finished. Wet dirty mop head comes off and goes in washing machine. Then when washed and dry it goes in top of empty bucket for next use. Nothing is wet.
I have two mop heads actually so one is always clean

In the en suite shower enclosure, it's an electric shower which is too expensive to run,so now doubles up as storage.
