Good Morning All! What are you all up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in silence, in my kitchen spot. Dd1 is home this weekend to work, and has already left for today's shift. Dd2's still in bed, and the cats have gone back up since I didn't feed them a second breakfast.

I'm off out for work's Christmas get together this afternoon, my dad's paid as a treat. My plan for this morning is to tidy round, hang the single load of washing that's currently in the machine, wrap the last of the pigs in their blankets, then get sorted for that.

I'm going to have my Self-Care-Sunday scrubby everything shower today, stick some false nails with a festive pattern, and put on a full face of makeup. Looking forward to the getting ready...less so to making my way there in the rain, or my sparkly boots on the bus into town at 2pm 🤣.

I'm not staying out late - dd1's meeting me wherever we are when she finishes. The last race is around 3:20, so she should be on her way out by 5 ish.

Dd2 has plans to pre-write some additions to her Health and Social GCSE exam (part of it is allowed re-submission time) and tidy her room (to avoid me going in and doing it 🤣).

When we get in, it'll be pj's and relax for an hour or two with the girls, then probably an early night snuggled up with the furry hot water bottle theif 💤.

What about all of you? 🙂

Enjoy your day lucysmam!
I haven't seen your name around for a bit but used to chat with you a lot under a previous user name.
We are off to a local Christmas fair. Then a supermarket "dine in" offer for dinner as it's just me and DH tonight.

TeapotCollection · 29/11/2025 09:41

Sounds good OP 🙂

Our Christmas decorations have just gone up 🧑‍🎄 🌲 😃

First football match of today is on at half 12, after that we’ll play darts for a couple of hours and have a few beers then another football match later

Takeaway delivery once that’s finished

Bbq1 · 29/11/2025 09:45

Morning lucysmam! Just about to get a shower and begin my day after dh brought me a tea in bed. Dh and dd are off to a gig in Nottingham at 12. We are a good couple of hours away so they are staying in a nice hotel overnight. I meanwhile will be wrestling with the tree lights as I'm planning to start putting the decorations up today! I'll probably do it in stages over a couple of days and as ds has helped me decorate the tree for the last 17 years so we'll do that together. It's one of our traditions. Other than that probably just be reading and watching a bit of TV. How is your eldest dd enjoying Uni lucy'smam? Enjoy your afternoon /evening and rock those sparkly boots!

Kim82 · 29/11/2025 09:46

Good morning everyone. It’s my usual quiet Saturday morning so far. Dh is at work and dd11 and her friend are both still asleep upstairs. The washer is on and I’m sitting on the sofa with a cup of tea in my pjs waiting for my Tesco delivery which is due any minute.

This morning I plan to watch Wicked as I’m taking dd11 to the cinema tomorrow to watch the second film but I haven’t watched the first yet! Then this afternoon we’re putting the Christmas tree and other decorations up. This isn’t a small task as we have absolutely hoards of decorations so we’re having a chippy tea so I don’t have to break off halfway through decorating to cook!

Hopefully we’ll have time to sit and chill in front of the tv for an hour or two when it’s finished before bed.

lucysmam · 29/11/2025 09:46

@LancashireButterPie I'm intrigued 🤔. Enjoy the Christmas fair!

@TeapotCollection our tree still needs to come down, goodness knows where it's going though. There are boxes packed towards moving all over the place.

@Rainbow1235 have fun with your grandson!

Good morning all!

About to collect my car, it's been at the garage all week and cost a bloody fortune 😭

Then I'm coming home to (sulk about it), read my book and do some crafting by the Christmas tree. The next two weekends are manic with planned events and travelling to uni daughter, then it'll be Christmas, so making the most of a lazy day.

Son is in bed ill so not sure what today's food arrangements will be. Lots of grazing and waiting on him with hot drinks, I imagine.

FayKnights · 29/11/2025 09:49

Morning @lucysmam and the Saturday gang

Just about to hop in the shower as being picked up soon for a trip to the garden centre to look at Christmassy bits and a coffee.

I would like to get my decorations and tree up later too. Dog walk needed in between it all.

Enjoy your Christmas Do @lucysmam, sparkly boots this time of year are a must!!!

lucysmam · 29/11/2025 09:50

@Bbq1 she's actually enjoying it more than I expected, thanks for asking! Although the free/cheap gigs on her doorstep probably helps...and Oxford Street being 2 mins from her campus definitely does 🤔.

Morning morning

Eldest had a rare full day off 6th form yesterday so we went to big shops and got him a much needed waterproof that needs to “go over thick hoodies” - we went first thing (busy Black Friday) - he picked and engaged with a few Christmas gifts (which was helpful) we had a full day out and youngster came home with lots of chatter.

So today is food only spending, I have all food for today but it’s been sprung on me that we have a second lot of teens round Sunday - so back to the butcher we go!

H is out most of the day/evening and as he hates and we love, it kippers all round for dinner tonight

Between now and kipper - tumble dryer load laundry, hang up load of laundry, school shirts load of laundry, sports polyester load of laundry, load tumble load to turn on in morning load of laundry
(our tumble is very eco and takes hours - one normal load a day is the limit which is fine if you do one load a day or most days - backlogs take a while to catch up) do still love the tumble mind

and I have to wrap up the lemon tree I brought indoors (thinking I was going to save it from winter) and put it back outside - I have been informed it will die indoors and die outdoors unless it’s covered in fleece and bubble wrap - I have done fleece I need to sew it into a lemon tree sized cover (like a parasol cover) - easy sewing - straight lines doesn’t have to be exact - that will keep us out of the shops

it’s grey and wet at the moment indoor jobs are fine

Mikart · 29/11/2025 09:57

Shit weather here and we have no plans! Hurrah! We were out drinking and eating yesterday afternoon with friends and are out for Sunday lunch tomorrow.
House is clean, ironing done and so I'm going to read all day. Dh cooking tonight.

Hendersso · 29/11/2025 09:57

I am having a lazy morning and I have only moved to feed animals. Planning on reading my book as it’s raining. Might do some ironing while watching a film. I was hoping to take the dog on a long field walk but it’s pouring with rain so hoping it eases. Going to town later on for some Christmas gifts and I’ve booked a massage can’t wait!

Tangerinesattack · 29/11/2025 10:01

Good morning all!
I've had a productive morning so far of meal planning and laundry so going to make myself breakfast of truffle baked eggs and have a little sit down in a minute.
I've got quite a lot on the docket though, with Christmas and house stuff as I've been unwell for a few weeks and I feel very behind and not quite in the festive mood yet.
DH and DS are off to his school Christmas fete so fingers crossed for the bottle stall. Later I'll take DS to the community cinema and then the Christmas lights are going on in town so we'll go to that too. I think DH is planning on a bit of renovation work but he'll probably meet up with us for the lights. Dinner is steak and chips with the obligatory glass of red. Then I'll have some sofa time with my knitting and Poirot. I've fallen out of routine with my Japanese study with being ill so I might try and dip my toe in but likely that will have to wait for tomorrow. I really need to guard my energy as I'm back to work on Monday on a phased return - feeling already quite anxious about it. Have a great day everyone.

Peppermintcreamz · 29/11/2025 10:02

In the hairdressers this morning getting a full head of highlights so will be here a few hours! A great time to enjoy an iced vanilla latte and read some magazines. I think it’s the only time I read mags nowadays, I couldn’t believe the price of them in the supermarket when I had a look the other day. Later I will tackle the rest of the Christmas tree which I started fluffing last night but only did half and it still took two hours lol. Have a great day everyone 😊

mamaduckbone · 29/11/2025 10:02

Good morning @lucysmam and all.

I've got a pretty dull day today - had a bit of a lie in and an hour with my book, but I'm sending Dh and ds2 off to rugby without me this afternoon for a change and getting my head into a ton of work I need to catch up on. It will feel better when it's done. It's very wet and miserable here which makes it a little easier.

Burgers for tea and a lazy night in front of the fire. I might start my winter jigsaw!

ShipshapeShore · 29/11/2025 10:06

Going to start all the usual chores in a few mins. Later on, taking DH to football while us girls go to the cinema for Wicked which I'm very much looking forward to!

CharlotteStreetW1 · 29/11/2025 10:10

Right now I'm on the sofa snuggling with him-cat. This is very rare as he's normally a classically aloof cat. He's being very sweet and obviously I can't move until he does.

Having said that, DH is working this morning and I will be meeting him when he finishes so that we can go to the local Christmas fair and maybe have a quick drink on the way home.

Dinner is the Charlie Brigham ready meal that I could reach from the too-high shelf in Waitrose I think it's chicken tikka masala.

Lovely MIL died earlier in the week. She was 94 and had been ill for a few weeks but it's still a wrench isn't it? So we're being gentle on ourselves and taking things easy.

DH is away for football tomorrow and not back until Monday so tomorrow I. Will. Sort. My. Wardrobe.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Him-cat has moved so now I need to get going and do some housework, boo.

Glennponder · 29/11/2025 10:17

I'm struggling with a bad back atm and I'm tired and in pain 😢
Got a dinner dance tonight (dhs work) and I'm dreading it 😫
Not much will get done today

I need to move...the washer's done. I know I'll have fun once I'm out...but I cba to actually move <sigh>.

I am waiting for plumber to come over and finish off heating jobs such as fitting a new pump and putting valves on the radiators. He was supposed to be here at 9, then late last night sent a message to say it would be a ‘bit later’ as he needed to pick up the stuff en route. He still hasn’t arrived. Sigh.

So DD13 and I are just double screening at the moment with cat snoozing beside us.

Am hoping that when plumber does finally arrive we can leave him to it for a bit and pop out to see Wicked 2 at the cinema. DD really needs to get a cycle in too for her DofE but she is feeling a bit under the weather I think due to flu jab on Thursday so might have to knock that one on the head.

I fancy bangers and mash for tea but may be a takeaway if plumber is still here if he decides to turn up!

gingercat02 · 29/11/2025 10:29

Morning all
Only just up. DS was up being sick in the night. He's 17 but obviously i still got up to see if he was OK.
He thinks it was food poisoning from the Chinese takeaway we had last night, but we all it from the same restaurant.
He says no alcohol at his friends and TBF he doesn't really drink.
He's not been very well all week, cold, headaches and stress with his UCAS form going in, so probably just a virus.
Lots of tv sports today, F1 and football and we really need to give the house a good clean. Fun!

Bbq1 · 29/11/2025 10:29

@Tangerinesattack
Good luck with the phased return. I had mine back in April after 2 years off work seriously ill. I do only work 2 days now as physically that's all I can manage. I too was incrediblly anxious bot within a day, it was like I'd never been off. Hope you it's smooth for you too.
@CharlotteStreetW1
Sorry for your loss.

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 29/11/2025 10:32

Good morning @lucysmam & everyone - another weekend is here. Time is racing by towards the big day! I need to blitz my house! Up quite early as DH’s alarm went off at 6.15. He brought me a cuppa in bed then I had a shower & washed my hair. Have to be careful what I use atm as my skin is super sensitive for some reason. At times my legs feel like they’re burning. I have a spa day (well, posh swimming pools!) on Monday so hope I don’t react to the chlorine. Working later but not such a long shift as usual which is good because it’s been mega busy. Beautiful sunny day so will put the washing out later or ask DH to do it at lunchtime. There’s a load in at the mo, including bath towels. Need to unload/load the dishwasher. Not sure what to have for tea. My meal plan went awry. Which reminds me, have to do one for next week. We had chips last night but may do them again with quorn nuggets & peas. Will watch Strictly & the 1% club or maybe a film. Need to arrange when to go & see the new Wicked one. Have a good day all 🙂
