Grammar school entrance

I really want my DS to get into grammar school but at 7 he doesn’t seem to be very good at tests even his class work is good and he seems really above average bright in other ways. Has anyone had this? Not keen to hot house, just curious if other people have seen their DC change a lot over the later years of primary school?

One of mine changed a lot but depending where you live hot housing can be necessary.

depending where you live hot housing can be necessary.

But can they then cope with the standard required if or when they get to grammar school, if they required hothousing to get there? Is it in their best interests?

For some probably not but where I am a pass is not enough you need to score high & you need speed in order to get through the test.

Some people continue with tuition once their dc are in.

Lots of people whose kids get in will be hot housing, so they're unlikely to be bottom of the pile just because of that.
