Nasty illness

I have been ill for 12 days now. Delirious, feverish, razor blade sore throat, can’t get off the sofa ill. I feel as bad today as I did the first day. At one point my heart went funny and I saw a doctor. Had bloods done, chest clear, heart tracing ok, infection markers up. Gave me antibiotics. Have made no difference (I presume it’s viral). Has anyone else had this?? How long did it take to recover? I am also diabetic so infections do tend to affect me more than say husband, but this is starting to really worry me. Stood washing a few dishes and thought I was going to pass out 😢. Only improvement is throat stopped hurting yesterday. Feeling very sorry for myself so feel free to tell me to get a grip!

Have you done a covid test?
New variant going around this year, there's also a nasty flu variant going around and anti biotics won't do anything for either.

It's utterly miserable being so unwell so I'm not going to tell you to get a grip, the fact that your throat has just started to feel better suggests your turning a corner but a virus like this is likely to have lingering effects for weeks afterwards.

Rest lots, keep warm, eat nutritiously. When you're recovering rest more than you think you need to.

Try and keep your spirits up

Yes I have covid - knocked me for six this time. I was really worried. Starting to improve now. I'm just hoping I don't get the post viral depression I had for a couple of months after the last one.

Did they test for flu? My immunocompromised adult dc landed up in hospital last week with similar symptoms (heart rate was 190, but dc said worse symptom was razor blade throat). Dc been really ill but antivirals made a big difference. You'll be to late for antivirals but if you're concerned could you get an emergency appointment with GP today (especially as its the weekend tomorrow). Being diabetic would be a good reason for them to see you.

I’ve had my flu jab this year, although I appreciate I could have caught a different strain. I did test for Covid, which was negative, although the tests are expired so again maybe not reactive to this strain. I appreciate the kind words and advice, it’s so frustrating at that this time of year especially. Being too ill to cook I think is hindering my recovery also.
