Looking to buy a tablet for a 10 Yr old, that has a decent sized screen and isnt massively expensive. Android, would like to put parent link on it. Something that will let them watch Netflix and bit of gaming ....

I didnt realise there were so many options and don't recognise half the brands amazon has thrown at me and had a bit of a complete panic.

So sensible, informed adults , if you have any recommendations they would be very gratefully recieved.

I also suspect im.going to get told to read christmas and black friday threads ( i will! I will! But I'm going around in circles )

Which gives 71% score to Lenovo Tab Plus which is £189. 11" screen. Does the fundamentals very well, excellent value.

Pros - speedy processor & performance, easy to use, quick to charge, excellent battery life
Cons - lacklustre front camera, variable sound quality, bulky

If youre happy to spend more then Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE is £349 and scored 81%.

That's their highest scoring android tablet under £400. They do only have reviews for 44 tablets of any kind or any price though, so not a massive selection.

I've just bought (and am using right now) an Amazon Fire 8, that cost me £39.99 brand new as a Black Friday offer. That should be all that is required!

For me the three big brands are
Apple
Samsung
Amazon fire HD for kids (comes with a protective case, my 6yo has one)

So i'd go samsung for an android tablet xx

Highly recommend Android for controlling kids' tablets - the app is called Family Link in case you get confused while googling.

StandardLampski · 29/11/2025 00:11

Unfortunately while I'd like samsung, its over budget now - thanks for the lenovo recommendation, have looked at those.
My mind was a bit boggles by loads of brands id not heard of so thankmyou for steering me there!

Yes, android so I can put parent link on it. Annoyingly can't on the amazon fire, he can circumnavigate the kids controls / limits on it, which is why I'm changing it ( and amazon fire is old, painfully slow and lacking in apps so was time for a change)

Hopefully this one will do for entertainment but also school for a few years! Many thanks
