That using 'paddy' to describe a tantrum is offensive.

That some people live extraordinarily sheltered lives - all the threads where people claim never to have met ANYONE who would think/feel/do xyz. And all the claims 'only on Mumsnet'. It's very rare that I come across a view/idea/way of life on here that I've NEVER encountered in real life.

Hairdryer on a mosquito bite.

I DO love this one, although I didn't find it on MN.

No - the Script that cheaters and abusers typically follow.

That some people view dogs as equal to humans (I've been on threads where people would rescue a dog before a baby from a burning building and thought that was ok). And that any thread that talks about some form of dog control (on or off lead, jumping up, poo, biting) will kick off.

And yes. Loo brushes. Frequency of sheet/towel washing. Baby names. And loo brushes. Wtf.

Well what would you call it?

What would I call what? Myself? Probably middle or working class

I had no idea people wore pants in bed until reading some of the threads on here. Honestly no one in my family did and no one I've ever slept with has. Not wishing to start any debate, I just remember my surprise.

Didn't realise how hard teachers have to work these days. Completely get it now and very grateful to them for what they do.

Didn't realise there were so many other people who had difficult/estranged relationships with their parents (for no real reason).

Once the washing machine cycle has finished, do a rinse and spin!

Yes. I remember reading a comment from a teacher who miscarried after a student attacked her and she was expected to sit in a meeting with him about his feelings a week later

About Cetaphil face wash- it’s been a game changer for me. I also didn’t know enough symptoms of menopause- I honestly thought I was going mad with some of my symptoms! Love mn!!

Why’s Cetaphil so good? I don’t really use anything specific but happy to be enlightened!

doctoramirkhan on intstagram’s shared some really interesting menopause symptoms. I now know my shit hearing isn’t my imagination!

How to correctly decant an oxo cube from it's wrapper with the contents perfectly pourable and no messy fingers.

Every time I use an oxo cube I think of how this small gem of a design went unknown by me for so many, many years.

Please share!

I’m almost wishing I could get bitten now, to try this 😂

That you can claim UC at 16 while still at college if you are disabled. Which is a godsend as “full time” education is not full time.

It is only since they changed the shape of the Oxo cube to an X-shape inside the wrapper (less in the way of ingredients but charging you the same) that you have been able to do this. Previously they were a solid cube and if you'd tried to squeeze them, the foil would have just split. I still do it the old-fashioned way.

That bleeding after you start HRT (after the menopause) is only supposed to last 2-3 months… I wasn’t aware (the doctor had said ‘you might get some bleeding’, but I didn’t know it wasn’t supposed to be permanent). So thank you, ladies of mumsnet - I reported bleeding (8-9 months of it) to GP, so got referred for tests to check all ok (which it was, thankfully - but so easily might not have been…)

Hot water bottles are EXTREMELY dangerous. A&E now!

That a lot of people are absolutely filthy.

They barely change their bedding, use towels for weeks and their idea of cleaning is wiping with some anti bac spray once in a blue moon.

Don't get me started on pet bowls in the dishwasher.
