First year having a baby in nursery, do I get the nursery staff a gift?

Also when do you give the gift? Last day before Christmas break or earlier so they can enjoy the chocolates/biscuits I’ll be getting?

If you have a nursery what’s app group it might be worth clubbing together? We did it at our old nursery & it worked really well. There’s nothing like that at the new one though.

For the last couple of years one of the parents has organised a collection for each member of staff to get a gift voucher. The nursery manager says it's gone down really well as otherwise everyone just ended up with a million boxes of chocolate/bottles of prosecco. Also means back office staff (e.g. the chef) are recognised too. On top of that I normally then give a card and maybe a small box of chocolates to each of the staff in my DC's room.

Hmm it’s quite hard to give individual gifts because the nursery’s split into two and the staff come over from the other nursery some days so it’s not just a set number of staff looking after my little girl. I like the voucher idea but we haven’t got a WhatsApp and I rarely see the other parents to ask.

We do an Amazon voucher & a bottle of wine for their key worker, 3 or 4 boxes of chocolates for all the other staff (the manager keeps hold of them from all the parents then divvys them out before Xmas) & a some beer for the chef.

It’s nice to have any biscuits and chocolates early when the staff are feeling tired and run down. We had a parent who always did this and it was much appreciated she was a teacher though and knew that end of term feeling.

I was thinking it would be nice to give it earlier so they can be enjoyed in work before they go off for Christmas.
