Bedwetting

Really hoping someone will be able to give me suggestions…
our 8 year old boy with adhd has never been dry over night. Tonight, he has got so wet despite wearing Ninjama nappy pants and he is upset and fed up. We have tried limiting drinks after a certain time and making sure he drinks in the day. He isn’t constipated, not diabetic, has been using a toilet in the day since 18 months but every night his nappy is wet, if not completely soaked through. He’s tried desmopressin but it has had no effect at all - not even slightly lessening the frequency or volume. He’s been referred to paediatricians but we have been told there are no appointments this year left.

Desperately hoping someone has a suggestion as it is making him so sad.

Have you tried alarms? I assume you already wake him in the night?

He sleeps very deeply and won’t wake so haven’t tried alarms. Tried waking him but once asleep, it is almost impossible to wake him and if he does wake a little, he isn’t with it enough to then get to a loo.

You say tonight he got so wet - so this is happening between when he goes to bed and midnight? In which case you need to try harder to wake him up before you know it happens. Even if he’s half asleep, support him into the bathroom and wake him up further there so that he can go to the toilet.
