Climbing over gates and everything. In my pyjamas and dressing gown with a torch in London. At 10.30 at night.

tell me why I did this (I’m not Batman or a burglar)

You're a nanomaniac looking for garden gnomes!

Picklelily99 · 26/11/2025 00:37

LaurieFairyCake · 25/11/2025 23:43

It’s a wheelie black bin

there is no "wheelie black", it's just black! But I wheelie hope you find the scrote who nicked it!

Friendlygingercat · 26/11/2025 00:39

The trick is to nab your bin as soon as the bin waggon has gone past and lock it up again. Mine are all chained together in a row so none can escape. They all have Amazon bin labels.

SnowFrogJelly · 26/11/2025 01:05

Is a fuck budgie the same as a fuck buddy

ok the person who air tagged their bin is a genius. Also, anyone remember shiny bin thread? Wonder if he’s still shiny.

Pleased to announce illegal shiny bin is still quite shiny but the bin men are the legends of life and shiny bin has so far won all the bin battles 💪

I don’t want to jinx it by saying we have won the war but so far all peaceful on shiny bin front.

Freedom for all bins! 😂

Anonbindrama · 26/11/2025 01:19

And my condolences OP Flowers

I hope lost bin decided to embark on his own travels and is living the good life. If kidnapped then this is quite terrifying and I hope they are being treated well.

moto748e · 26/11/2025 01:28

I love this thread. And Moar of This Sort Of Thing!

Your DH refused to go because he at least has some dignity. Just phone the council like a normal person would and don't feel entitled to trespass into everyone else's gardens. I would have been furious if I was your neighbour.

lol.

A hearty round of applause for OP.

CalmShaker · 26/11/2025 01:54

Admit it, you were dogging

nomas · 26/11/2025 02:24

We put the road name as well as the door number in white gloss paint. Puts off the bin pinchers.

AnotherNameChange2025 · 26/11/2025 02:27

You can get a cheap non brand air tag off amazon compatible with most phones.

I got one for my house keys that goes on the keyring and when I realised it worked I bought more for everything I constantly lose.

With ADHD and perimenopause it looks ridiculous having them attached to things like hairbrushes but it works and avoids rows.

I might get one for my cats collar for curiosity purposes and also because he likes to disappear for days and I worry!

I think I got 2 last time for £14.99 and I just added it to find devices on my iPhone.

AnotherNameChange2025 · 26/11/2025 02:30

its even cheaper with Black Friday sale. You could stick them on recycling boxes as well 😊. ^^Air tag link

I'm really sorry that your bin has gone, @OP, but this thread has made my night.

Feels like original Mumsnet!

A small Korean lady has taken your bin, OP. She’s hiding a supersoaker and some pombears in it but the reason you can’t find it is because she knocked a new door into your garden and stole it that way.

Looking for a cat?

To find my lost cat, I would do this...

Daleksatemyshed · 26/11/2025 03:26

I look forward to seeing you on Crimewatch Op, the pink pjs with wellies will be a real giveaway 😀

Cat got out? That's always my first guess when someone's scaling fences in their dressing gown at night 😂 Either that or you lost something that blew away in the wind. Please tell us you found whatever you were looking for

JustMe2026 · 26/11/2025 04:48

Omg roaring a budgie took your bin is how I read it lmao 🤣

Anneta · 26/11/2025 04:59

I had just pulled up & parked outside my neighbour’s house in the car when a van pulled up a little way behind me & a guy got out. I thought he was delivering parcels but when he drove off I saw he had taken our large green canvas recycling bags. So I followed him up the road. He pulled into a side street as he was driving up and down looking for more bags. I pulled my car across the road in front of hiim, got out and asked for my bags back.
He said “ oh love, are they yours?” Then he got out of his van opened the back door & gave me back my two bags and another neighbour’s bag which was “blowing around in the street”.
By the way, I’m 69 years old. Thinking back it was probably a stupid thing to do but I was livid!

Darkchocokatetorte · 26/11/2025 05:02

How much are wheelie bins? Is nothing sacred anymore? Do you live in a rough area?

PardonMeNot · 26/11/2025 05:19

My sister once took a big ladder into a neighbour’s garden late at night to rescue her cat from a tree. 😻

BadgernTheGarden · 26/11/2025 05:26

Hope they haven't all got security cameras. Your reputation will be toast.

BadgernTheGarden · 26/11/2025 05:28

Sometimes they get carried off by the bin lorry.

Horses7 · 26/11/2025 05:57

Haha - I’m afraid I’d be the same! It’s your bin - at least it will be out next time with your number on it. Btw your bin hunting gear sounds very co-ordinated. Good luck getting it back!

IPM · 25/11/2025 23:06

How does one 'break in' to a garden by climbing over the fence? 👀

What's the matter IPM? Never taken a shortcut before?

BadgernTheGarden · 26/11/2025 05:28

Sometimes they get carried off by the bin lorry.

That happened to my dads bin - he was watching out for the bin collection from his lounge room window (cause he’s a grumpy old man with nothing else to do) and saw it go into the truck and ended up chasing them down the street.
