Where would to go…
we were talking about this in work and my answer was..
I would take my kids back to have a proper 90’s Christmas.
the decs
the chocolate selection stocking with nets
normal advent calendars
the hamper my mum used to get which she paid all year for.
circling things you wanted in the Argos catalog.
the walks we used to do on Christmas Eve into town to get our takeaway. (we still have takeaway but it’s practically next door and then the nearest town after is about 30 minutes walk)
going to woolies at Christmas

weve always been retro at Christmas but as the world changed Its never gonna be the same. My son loves anything retro, loves 7-‘s, 80’s and 90’s music so I know he’d have a blast.

Jeez that makes me feel old. Weren't the 90s about 10 years ago? ( in my head)

MeouwKing · 24/11/2025 23:05

I wondered about going back to 1066 and the Battle of Hastings and telling Harold to duck. Had he won the Battle, what would the history of this country have been?

CoraLea · 24/11/2025 23:11

I'd go back to '95-'99 and stay there. Stuck forever 😂

I would go back to the moment of my birth and make sure I came out as male!

MrsAvocet · 24/11/2025 23:45

I'd go back to the day I was multiply injured in a car crash on my way home from work but this time I would leave 5 minutes early.

TheChosenTwo · 24/11/2025 23:48

I was trying to explain to my kids recently but couldn’t quite remember myself, when I was about 6-7 in the early 90’s my mum used to buy us Barrett’s/Trebor? booty bags when we were going to her friends house, my brother and I would be sent to the ‘good front room’ of friends house to watch videos and eat sweets from the bags, they had stickers and sweets and I’m sure they were in a sort of cone shape. I tried googling and just can’t find what I was reminiscing about 😭
anyway I’d go back and take my kids with me to the early 90’s - they were brilliant years!

ledmeup · 24/11/2025 23:49

i would have tried to buy property in the late 90s whilst I was at school/6th form.

TheChosenTwo · 24/11/2025 23:50

Oh Christ, @MrsAvocet yours is really a sliding doors moment and mine is just about sweets.
sorry for being trite and I hope you’ve made a a significant recovery 💐

ledmeup · 24/11/2025 23:51

@TheChosenTwo I loved a booty bag!

Shegotanology · 24/11/2025 23:51

I'd use it to save people.

Not2identifying · 25/11/2025 00:03

I feel this is not really 'in the spirit' but I'd look up last Friday's Euromillion numbers and then go back to Friday morning and buy a ticket. I know money can't buy happiness, yada yada, but I'd like a different set of problems to deal with...

JenniferBooth · 25/11/2025 00:03

@TheChosenTwo I loved a booty bag!

So someone else remembers them too! I didn’t imagine them! Brilliant 🤩

CoraLea · 25/11/2025 09:17

They are still doing a booty bag, its a normal bag though, not a cone, and probably got shit sweets in it nowadays.

TheChosenTwo · 25/11/2025 21:02

Thanks @CoraLea - it’s lost its charm somewhat but good to know an iteration of it is still going for kids of today!

I’d be an ancient Egyptian (except I’d probably be a slave, given my demographic, rather than a queen 🙄)
