I text a school mum to thank them for their child's birthday gift to my DC and that DC loved it. They don't, it was Lego and their first reaction was "uuuurrrrrrhhh, why did he get me Lego"

I'm great thanks, how are you?

Lie followed by a don't care.

silkyfilament · 24/11/2025 21:31

Your child sounds really quite ungrateful. How old are they?

shellyleppard · 24/11/2025 21:32

I said I was fine but really I'm not....also op your son sounds ungrateful....

He just sounds like a kid. One who hasn’t learnt to fake love every gift he’s been given.
lots of kids, especially young ones just say how they feel before they learn to keep it inside.
he didn’t say it to the gift giver.

no one loves everything they’ve ever received and if they have said thanks and shown appreciation, doesn’t mean inside they’re not thinking differently.

and if you say that you’ve always been genuinely 100% appreciative of every gift you’ve ever had. Then that’s the lie you’ve told (yourself) today.

MrTumblesSpottyBoxers · 24/11/2025 21:38

I'm aware it's rude, I'm aware it's ungrateful. They got told in no uncertain terms that they can't ever react like that to gifts and if it carries on that next time there won't be any presents

They are 6.
