Do you know the location of every yellow car in your area?

We do, pass 3 on the walk to school/ work, and 4 on the walk to guides. I usually lose! It’s quite funny as i stand near a car park at work and if there is a yellow car parked there you hear lots of ‘yellow car’ from the kids (and parents), walking home!

No I can’t say I do!

ItsJustASimpleLine · 24/11/2025 17:16

Unfortunately I do. I always see loads when I'm out driving for work with no one with me. Seems such a waste. Then I remember how much I hate the game and roll my eyes at myself.

Yes! And the pink and green ones

BestZebbie · 24/11/2025 17:36

No, but I drive a yellow car and often see children suddenly go for each other as I go past!

Ooh I love pink cars! Wish there was one near me.

devildeepbluesea · 24/11/2025 17:41

More or less. DD and I play regularly!

TheTortiePuffinNeedsHerBreakfast · 24/11/2025 17:43

There is only one that's parked near my house on a regular basis, don't know of any others. I see quite a few out driving though. My DS and I are thinking of changing the game to "purple car" because yellow ones seem to be getting more common.

Dontlletmedownbruce · 24/11/2025 17:44

In my house we say 'cheese on wheels' if its yellow or orange. I'm not even sure why.

KilliMonjaro · 24/11/2025 17:49

Ha! Yes.

ProfPerfectlySoftButter · 24/11/2025 17:52

i love that quite a few or the replies have no idea what you are on about. IMO the local yellow car owners should inform me if they plan to be out for the day: Doubly so for minis!

WonderingWanda · 24/11/2025 17:56

No. I have enough trouble remembering where I parked my own car most of the time!

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 24/11/2025 17:59

I chuckle when I’m re-reading Mick Herron’s Slow Horses books as the game is played during a few of them. Mumsnet gets a mention in Clown Town too!

MNLurker1345 · 24/11/2025 18:03

What is it with children and yellow cars? my DGD is always counting them and she is 14, but has been doing so for many years. She counted 6 recently and I live in a small village. She was chuffed!

MartinCrieffsHat · 24/11/2025 18:03

No, but I know where I see them.

Brightbluesomething · 24/11/2025 18:18

Oh yes. And the one that’s more orange than yellow that my DC keeps trying to claim….

RescueMeFromThisSilliness · 24/11/2025 18:29

No idea. There aren't any round here, although I did see a sporty thing last week in another town.

AnneShirleysNewDress · 24/11/2025 18:30

Boom! Yellow car!

IsntItDarkOut · 24/11/2025 18:32

DD and thump each other in the car on the way to college. So yes I know where the regulars are.

Cat1504 · 24/11/2025 18:32

Mostly….cos the GC love to play ….cheese on wheels

netflixfan · 24/11/2025 18:34

We say “cheese on wheels” 🤣

everyone says …cheese on wheels round here….im NW….it’s followed by a thump to the arm

Ddakji · 24/11/2025 18:35

No, but we have 4 points for a gold car and I know where they are!

DD’s Year 1 teacher taught the kids the yellow car game and 10 years on we still play it (1 point for a yellow car, 4 for a gold car).

HeadyLamarr · 24/11/2025 18:36

Yes I do. And I blame Finnemore every time I mutter it to myself when I'm alone.

Yourinmyspot · 24/11/2025 18:42

DH curses DD for introducing it. He works for the ambulance service and has to remember not to say yellow car at work!
