My little one and nephew Is 7 and the most amazing wee dude on the planet but the single hardest person in the world to buy for. He has autism and is really difficult to buy for as he doesn’t like ANYTHING that little boys his age like. I asked him today what he would like and he said just anything but when I went through some ideas like Lego, cars, books, puzzles, art stuff, games, skateboards, scooters he was like no I don’t like any of those things 🙈 has anyone got an amazing gift idea to help me out?

What do you know he does like and maybe we can come up with something close but not the same?

Doe he like dinosaurs? Top Trumps dinosaurs and the promise of a trip to the natural history museum or the coast fossil hunting?

Does he like lights and sounds or not, does he like wheels and machines, does he like food and smells, does he like music or videos?

try think of categories of things he likes and then work with those, but dont restrict yourself to just toys

I’ve made up gifts before but I don’t know if they’d be any use

  • POTIONS KIT various jars and bottles, various spoons and stirring implements like whisk, porridge stick, wooden spoon, measuring cups, large bowl / pan, sieve, things like sequins and little pebbles to ‘mix’ in, beetroot powder, food dyes, bubbles, dried petals, funnel, blackboard labels and chalk pen

DETECTIVE KIT

sunglasses, mirrored glasses, see round corners stick thing, laminated newspaper sheet with eyeholes cut out, clipboard and pen, fingerprinting kit, magnifying glass, binoculars, notebook and pen (I think actually I made up print outs for it like suspect details etc), gloves, disguises like fake noses, hats, moustaches etc

What does he like to do?

My son has autism and is very logical and practical. He enjoys anything stem related, so any kits you can build or science experiments. We had a kit for building a wooden marble run for his birthday which he spent all day on. Anything like that?

stichguru · 23/11/2025 21:32

What does he like doing? What does he talk about?

dogsandbudgey · 23/11/2025 21:33

He only likes to game or watch YouTube. Literally that is it. He won’t even entertain a bike.

An encyclopaedia or the Guinness book of world records both went down an absolute storm here at that age!

Would he like tickets to something like The Cube live or a museum that has a gaming section or something?
