Dies anyone do or know of the type of cooking job that meets these criteria please?

Weekdays but no evening or weekend work.
Input into menu
Minimum customer interaction

Thoughts so far are working in a nursery or care home
Possibly running a canteen in an 11-18 school or college

do you have any experience at all?

Are their any cafe/restaurants that are near you that only open in the day?
There are plenty of villages near me where the chef is very involved in designing the menu, cooking and no interaction with customers. Only thing would be no weekends. Usually it's one weekend day, or 2 weekends a month etc.

I think nursery/care home if they are chains will have set menus and food all delivered in bulk or same menu on repeat.

The person I'm asking for has experience in nursery/care home settings but not a school canteen.

Thank you. Good thought about daytime cafes. I think Saturdays would be ok but Sundays are a definite no.

Working in office canteens?

If they are comfortable with some customer interaction, they could do private chef work cooking family meals/batch cooking. Either from client's homes or their own if they get the necessary cerificare. Depends a bit on your area I suspect, but I'd happily pay someone good money to batch cook me a week of lunches and dinners every week. Or to pop in in the morning to cook lunch and leave dinner cooked on the hob whilst I'm at work. It's a hard service to find!

Thank you - these are good ideas to pass on.

A care home would involve weekends and Christmas
nursery sounds a good fit

Brenda34 · 23/11/2025 18:46

Thanks. The bonus is that they have experience of both. 😊

Workplace canteens, city centre restaurants (mostly city of London realistically) specialising in business lunches
