Scopoderm. Shortage help!

Scopoderm changed my life and enabled me to be able to freely travel after a lifetime of misery and being stuck at home due to excessive travel sickness. Nothing else worked.

Now they're out of stock everywhere.

Are they discontinued forever?

I feel so desperately unhappy about not being able to get them anymore.

I know we use them for ours sons secretions. We havent been able to get them for over a year now. They are available in a different make through the G P though so that is your best hope.

What do you mean? Scopolamine patches or a tablet form?

OP, I'm also scuppered.

As I understand it, it follows the death of a child in the USA (safety alert in 2023) which has now led to the discontinuation of the patches altogether. There is no known date for manufacturing to recommence.

There is an unlicensed alternative patch if your pharmacy are prepared to get it in. I mighty explore this option.

Scopolamine.

Thank you, I will go on a hunt for these now.

@PinkFootstool that’s really sad that someone died. But I don’t mean this heartlessly, I desperately hope they will start making and distributing again.

@flapjackfairy a lengthy google search has revealed no phamacies have that anymore either.

I have a holiday planned that I'm pretty sure I'm going to not go on without the patches.

OP how do you get on with tablet versions?

I use the patches for migraine related cyclical vomiting. Unfortunately by the time I need anti sickness meds, oral tablets are completely ineffective as my digestive system has shut down.

I get them through the hospital pharmacy. Maybe ask your gp if that is an option. You cant get them through the ordinary pharmacy.

PearlTeapot · 24/11/2025 12:21

I did ask my GP a few months ago and he said they couldn’t get hold of them in our county at all.

They do nothing. Kwells etc. They stop me actually vomiting but not the feeling horrific head spinning etc. Can’t function at all.
