Good Morning Everyone! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot. The cats have had breakfast & gone back to bed, and dd2's been up to the loo...and gone back to bed! So it's peaceful down here 😊. I'll shift in a minute to sort my morning tablets for the coming week and wash the few pots there are.

I do have the washer going already for a pink top I want to wear this afternoon though. Myself and a handful of work colleague friends are off to my class teacher's gender reveal party (she's also a friend). Very excited to find out if baby will be a girl or boy!

Before that I need to shower and eat breakfast though! I'm slightly fuzzy headed after drinking 3 glasses of wine while watching a musical on Youtube with dd2 last night. I usually stop at 2 glasses 🙈. It was really fun though!

Dd2's job for the day is to sort her pigsty of a bedroom while I'm out - it won't actually take long if she makes a start!! And she'll need to look at any homework since we went out yesterday then watched the musical. I've just remembered, it was Ride The Cyclone, for anyone who's interested!

When I get in, I'll have my usual Self-Care-Sunday scrubby everything shower, then maybe an hour or so with my book, before an early night ready for the week ahead 💤.

What about all of you? 🙂

Good morning Lucysmam and others. I've had two coffees and I'm about to have a cuppa and a slice of toast. The woollens are finished in the washing machine and the bedding is ready to go in. The weather here is heavy rain so a day indoors for me. Lots of pottering. Have a good day all

mrsh2025 · 23/11/2025 09:10

Good morning have a lovely time at baby shower. I’m at work till 6 :(

FamingolosForDays · 23/11/2025 09:19

Good morning @lucysmam and all, lovely to "see" you. I've missed these threads for a couple of weeks.
Currently lying in bed working up the courage to make myself a cup of tea. DS is downstairs watching telly and I should think DD (who turned 13 this week! 😮) is still asleep. We were up watching Blue Lights quite late last night after taking her and her friends to see Wicked.
I need to do lots of washing today and at least pick up the final apples that have come off the tree. I've been desperate to mow the grass for weeks but its been so wet I haven't been able to do it, but hopefully I can at least get it prepared.

New trail cam arrived yesterday so will sit and see if anything made its way through the garden last night. We currently have a fox who pops through twice a day, she is beautiful.
Friends popping over this afternoon, think DD is keen on making Spanish chicken for dinner so need to have a bit of a tidy and get things out of the freezer! I forgot to book a tesco delivery so I will probably need to pop out to the shops to fill up for lunches etc.
Another very busy week at work ahead so got to sort out the weekly organiser so we all know where we are and what we are eating (ADHD household here and if I don't do this we will live on chicken nuggets and beans!) And the usual baths, hair washes etc. DSs nails are getting very long so will need to cut them too.
Have a lovely Sunday all 😊

mamaduckbone · 23/11/2025 09:23

Good morning @lucysmam and all!
I'm still in bed having a very lazy Sunday morning after a long and busy day in London yesterday for ds1's birthday.
Today is going to be a quiet one - ds1 and his gf are here for a Sunday roast and I've promised to make sticky toffee pudding.
We'll try and get a walk in at some point before holing up in front of the fire. I was very disciplined this week and haven't got any school work to do, which is a nice feeling.

YelramBob · 23/11/2025 09:32

I did a 5k charity fun run this morning so feeling quite chuffed with myself 😁 It's unseasonably hot where I live so running in 28c heat was quite tough 🥵

Just got the washing on and chilling with a coffee before I start the housework, might treat myself to a cold beer in the sunshine later 🍺😎

MummyInTheNecropolis · 23/11/2025 09:33

Morning everyone, and thank you for the thread @lucysmam I always look forward to seeing what you and everyone else are up to!

I’ve just had a coffee on the couch, DD has a day off today so she’s having a lie in with the cat, she’s been at her boyfriends for the last few days, the cat has really missed her so he’s enjoying being snuggled in bed with her - he hasn’t even been down for breakfast yet!

I’m waiting for the rain to stop so I can go out for a run, in the meantime I need to clean the kitchen and will do a 20 min yoga session.

There’s a new winter wonderland thing that’s just opened near me so I’m thinking of going and having a wander round that this afternoon. I’m making prawn stir fry for dinner and will make up a few days worth of lunches at the same time, then will settle down after a shower and hair wash to watch strictly and later on, match of the day.

Taytocrisps · 23/11/2025 09:42

Morning lucysmam and the usual posters. DD has showered and is having breakfast -she's heading off to work shortly. I don't need the car today, so she can drive herself to and from work. I'm having my first cuppa of the day. I did a lot of chores yesterday. Today I'm going to do a quick hoover around and then wrap some presents and maybe write some Christmas cards. I'm doing a roast for dinner - turkey breast, roasties, stir fry veg and sprouts. My first sprouts of the season. After dinner I'll sort out my clothes for the week and then maybe chill with a movie or a good TV series.

Cheersmedears123 · 23/11/2025 09:44

Morning! I was at the pub yesterday afternoon for a friends birthday which resulted in lots of beer and not much food. I’m paying for it today after a terrible nights sleep despite being home at a very decent time! DH is still sleeping (he stayed out far later than me) and I’m snuggled up on the sofa with sugary tea and toast while DS games beside me. The food shop will arrive at some point and I’ll probably take a walk to the shop as we forgot to add a few bits. Other than that, and a bit of housework, we’re having a very lazy day. Nov/Dec is really busy so we’re appreciating a quiet Sunday!

Bims2019 · 23/11/2025 09:49

Morning all 😊 I always read these threads but have never commented before! It's a very wet day here, so we are having a lazy morning after being out and about yesterday. Will probably need to go out at some point so toddler DD can get some fresh air, but she's quite happy for now with a blanket/sofa fort that DH has constructed. And I have a coffee 😁 Happy Sunday!

Giggorata · 23/11/2025 09:50

Good morning lucysmam and all.
I have been up at the crack of dawn (aaagh) these past two days, so that I can make coffee for the man who is working here.
He is spreading some incredibly expensive tanking compound on walls in the boiler room. I can only think it contains gold.
But worth it for damp control from our rubbish bricks, so I can get my kitchen cupboards up and have a utility room. So excited, it's been years…

Later, we are having a FaceTime with the forrin grandkids, also exciting.

For dinner, we have a vast vat of chicken curry, some of which is going to be frozen.
I was hoping for a Black Friday bargain for a new tall freezer, but no luck. I am so done with the chest freezer chaos. (Looking at you, DH)

I will finish my Slow Horses book this evening. So good, love me some spies. 😎

Thislittlekitten · 23/11/2025 10:01

Morning @lucysmam and the gang.

Im lying in bed with a cup of tea and cuddling a cat.
I’ve had a horrible sleep. Up and down loads in the night. DDog has just joined us.

I need to get said dog out for a walk. He’s only been in the garden today. It’s pouring if rain but think will need to bite the bullet.

I need to pick Up bits from the shops and sort uniforms. I have been saving the last episode of murder before eveningsong so will watch soon.

Tonight’s tea is curry.

Zippedydodah · 23/11/2025 10:18

Good morning @lucysmam &Co, the sun’s shining here in a clear blue sky but it was miserably grey and drizzly on the first dog walk, chilly too so ZDog2 wore her new coat.
I have made a shepherd’s pie for dinner so that’s sorted, and there’s cheesecake and tarte tatin left from yesterday to finish up.
I’m planning to do very little for the rest of the day and finish my mitre-square knee blanket, it’s getting boring now.
I do have yarn sorted for a big granny square throw- I honestly don’t need any more but I cannot just sit and watch tv or just read unless I have something to knit or crochet.
I will light the wood burner later, it’s very effective at heating the downstairs.
i need to sort out my medication for the week, finish the washing and then I can have another coffee. I’ve already eaten fried egg and tomato on sourdough toast 😋 with a coffee.

Hillrunning · 23/11/2025 10:25

I love these threads. Im still in bed, which is rare for me. I have the place to myself until 7 so ill do lots of gentle pottering. I have a new audio book to progress which ill listen to while getting on with other things. Might start a small project to make a friend a display for her magnets.

Tangerinesattack · 23/11/2025 10:30

Morning all,
Just about to hop in the shower. We've had french toast for breakfast and we're off to a roller disco as soon as ds and I are ready. It's at the local leisure centre so we might go for a swim after, and possibly have lunch. DH is continuing to finish off phase 2 of our renovation. We're aiming to get it done by the end of the year so we can crack on with the extension next year. DH is a joiner so he's doing most of it himself meaning the work is good and cheap but very slow! Might pop a movie on later and finish the cross stitch which didn't get done yesterday! Dinner is roast pork followed by sticky toffee pudding. Have a great day everyone.

zingally · 23/11/2025 11:06

Good morning all!

I've already given the kitchen a much-needed wipe down and a spray around.
Next job is to get all my stuff printed off for my private tuition work this coming week.
I've then got a huge pile of washing to fold and put away. It's actually the job I hate most, and I'm notorious for just dumping it all on the bed in the spare room, and leaving it for weeks! But I'm GOING TO sort it today.
I'd also like to get my medicine cupboard sorted. We moved into this house in September 2024, and just sort of threw it all in there. It badly needs a sort and going through expiry dates and the like. I can't even see what we've got any more.
I'd also like to get the Christmas wrapping mostly finished. I wrapped a good chunk of it during the week, which felt good, but would like to do some more. There's still a few presents left to buy, but I'm waiting until next weekend to get those, to hopefully take advantage of some black friday offers.
I cracked on and wrote all the family/friend Christmas cards in front of the telly yesterday evening. Just the neighbours to do, but I'll do them nearer the time, as they don't involve posting.

I was surprised last year (our first Christmas here) that everyone in the close did cards. 10 houses, and I got cards from 9 of them. I hadn't met everyone at that point, but my name seemed to get around!
I know Christmas cards seem to be fading out of popularity, but I still like to send and receive them! I try and get them posted out right at the start of December because the post is so crap. I'll try and get round to the post office for stamps at some point this week.

I'm having a productive, "busy" weekend, as I'm feeling a bit stressed about some other stuff happening in my life going on at the mo, and cracking on with some "busy jobs" helps a lot. None of it is major-major, it's just all come at once! Typical!

According to FB memories, we put our tree up on this day last year. But we've already made plans to do it next weekend, so we'll stick to that. We'll go for whichever day looks driest, as the boxes are mostly all in the garage, which involves a trip outside to retrieve!

Kim82 · 23/11/2025 11:15

Good morning everyone. I’m currently on the train with dh on our way home after our night away. We’re both feeling a little bit delicate and so looking forward to getting home and sprawling on the sofa with a cup of tea. We should be back in 20 minutes or so, luckily the train station is only a 2 minute walk from our house.

Today’s plan is to do as little as possible! We need to organise getting dd11 home from my sisters as she stayed there last night but that’s all I need to do today.

We’re having a very easy tea of spicy chicken burgers and fries because I just don’t have it in me to cook anything decent and I’ll be having a nice, long shower and going to bed very, very early. I am evidently far too old to go out drinking, I don’t cope the next day!

Peridot1 · 23/11/2025 11:34

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone. Love these threads. Organised my morning to sit and have a nice coffee while reading this morning.

Been up for a while and had tea while doing my puzzles and then more tea and toast. Unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher and cleaned the kitchen. Put some laundry on. I cleaned the lights over our island unit yesterday but they are still a bit smeary so will give them another go in a bit.

Gorgeous day here and I’m feeling guilty I didn’t go for a walk but I have a few things I want to do.

As it is nice and sunny I’m going to take the dead plants out of the two planters outside our front door so I can put in some red cyclamens and ivy for Christmas. Will do garden centre trip tomorrow.

We are going to some 80th birthday drinks for a friend in the village this afternoon and as we pass the pub on the way home have booked to go there for a roast for dinner.

We will be home early and watch some tv. Probably Trigger Point.

@zingally - you have reminded me I need to write a Christmas card for my friend in Australia and post it tomorrow. And get organised in others. I don’t do so many these days but most people in our village do so need to get organised with those.

@Zippedydodah - you’ve reminded me I have a blanket kit to start knitting. I don’t knit very often but occasionally get the urge. I’d love to be able to crochet. One day.

Ijwwm · 23/11/2025 13:26

I was due to going to my favourite pub for a roast with a friend, but unfortunately she had to cancel. So I’ve just been pottering with odd jobs.

Am going to pop to the shop in a bit to pick up a couple of bits so that I can cook myself a mini roast this evening, I really want one now! I need to get a wash on, but there’s nothing else that HAS to be done so I think I’m just going to take it fairly easy today.

Will have my usual weekly call with my sister early evening, then I’ll have my mini roast. Will watch a couple of episodes of The Beast in Me. Then a fairly early night ready for my role as Fence Installation Assistant tomorrow!

Happy Sunday all.

twistyizzy · 23/11/2025 13:29

Did horse + dog then did a 5 mile walk with DH + dog to the Xmas market at our local castle. Back home with cannoli and freshly ground coffee whilst trying not to fall asleep!
Know I should do the pre-xmas deep clean before decorations go up but I just can't be arsed.

Gettingbysomehow · 23/11/2025 13:35

Lounging and binge watching The Serpent Queen and later Im going for a coffee at my favourite pub, they have a nice woodburner and sofas, with my platonic male friend. We need to discuss plans to "dispose of" my smoking 60 a day neighbour who is stinking my house out with his filthy habit.

DilemmaDelilah · 23/11/2025 14:24

Good afternoon @lucysmam and everyone.

I'm late today because I've been busy with 'stuff'.

I had a good feel around my remaining boob this morning in the shower - after checking in the bath last night and thinking it was OK - and I'm not convinced there is nothing there so I am going to ring and leave a message for the follow up nurse when Mr Dilemma is out picking up chorister grandson after evensong.

Then we went swimming and stopped off for an early McDonalds lunch on the way home. When we got back I put all the swimming stuff in the wash and went freezer diving for meals for the next few days. Curry for me and chilli for Mr Dilemma this evening, savoury pork and vegetable mince tomorrow, and beef and fennel casserole (suitably doctored) on Tuesday.

While I was looking in the freezer I pulled out several little containers of leftovers and have made them into a nutritious soup to have for lunch for the next few days. Rather too many days.... as Mr Dilemma tells me it is not to his taste!

We then had a couple of games of scrabble - we each won one - and we are now about to sit down to watch the new American series Watson on the telly.

That's all I am doing for today really!

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 23/11/2025 19:34

Evening folks - very late to the party! Hope everyone’s having a good day. I’ve not long woken from a nap & Strictly Results are on, although they said last night that nobody will be going this week because Le Voix is out. Having tea in a bit which will be Greggs Festive Bakes, double cream mash & peas. I’m a bit under the weather so will try to go to bed a bit earlier than I have been of late. Worked today which was very busy but not manic. Unfortunately ended up arguing with DD16 again as soon as I got home, although her beef was mainly with DH. To give her her due, she did come downstairs to talk about it all & explain. Not exactly an apology but it helped. She’s a complex kid!
I did the dishwasher before work & DH has loaded it again. He planned to clean the bathroom but has left it for another day. I’ll do the loo at some point. He’s also cleaned out the rabbits as per & put their new hutch covers on.

Ijwwm · 23/11/2025 21:17

Not a wildly exciting update, but after a trip to the local shop I’ve had my mini-roast. Deconstructed toad in the hole! Basically sausages, frozen yorkshires, frozen roast potatoes, peas and lashings of thick gravy 😋

Not a patch on the expected pub roast, but not a bad substitute either. And all done in 20 mins in the air fryer.

SilkiePenguin · 23/11/2025 21:24

Hope everyone has had a good day. Had a lovely Sunday roast with the veg from the farm shop, had rainbow carrots, their potatoes and savoy cabbage and later had one of their giant radish. DH made us a lovely apple crumble from their apples with custard.

We put up new curtains upstairs, cleaned downstairs, collected things from the shop and did a load of washing.

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 24/11/2025 08:15

Realised I love the word “ lashings”! Reminds me of The Famous Five with lashings of ginger beer!
