Tescos own brand weetabix is just as good as the original. Any others?

I was surprised no one noticed and they are less than half the price. Are their any own brands you prefer or can if needs must. I alwats get own brand bleach

Aldi Weetabix are pretty decent. I picked up a multi pack of crisps from Aldi which are good

Well this isn't a cereal product but I buy cans of mixed bean salad and Sainsbury's own make is absolutely vastly superior to the Napolina Five bean salad.
Interestingly the prices of both are usually very similar - usually own brand items I expect to be a cheaper option. But even when the Napolina is on offer, as it sometimes is, I prefer to pay the higher price for the Sainsbury's version.

I do buy Sainsbury's own brand branflakes which are tremendously cheaper than the Kellogg's version and they are just as good imo.

Someone posted on here a few weeks ago that Aldi soup was just the same as Heinz. So I decided to live life on the edge and try them Grin you honestly can't tell the difference between Heinz tomato soup and Heinz chicken soup from Aldi versions. I don't think I buy any brands now except HP brown sauce as I've switched over to supermarket brands over the years.

TangyJellyTot · 22/11/2025 12:29

Lidl ketchup is the GOAT

EachandEveryone · 22/11/2025 12:49

Oh no I can’t switch my sauces although I have tried. M and s cornflakes are great and only £1

I think Asda beans are better than Heinz. We don’t actually shop at Asda, it was an accidental discovery, so I buy about 20 tins at a time!

A lot of Aldi, own brand are just as good if not better than the branded product imo.

HouseofDreams · 22/11/2025 13:03

Aldi weetabix is great

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 22/11/2025 13:05

You pay a big premium with branded goods for the marketing costs. I only buy brand rather than own label if there's a significant difference that matters to me, e.g. taste, British vs other, presence or absence of ingredients I'd rather avoid. Marmite is virtually the only brand I am always loyal to.

BashfulClam · 22/11/2025 13:09

Sainsbury’s cream crackers are just as good as Jacob’s but the Tesco ones are rubbish. Tesco fruit and fibre is a bit different but nicer than Kelloggs.

Eukanuba · 22/11/2025 13:13

M and S weetabix are really good value at £2 a box in comparison to the original (£3.65) , taste is great .

SoScarletItWas · 22/11/2025 13:13

Agree with @Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g

The only non-Tesco items in my pantry are Marmite, Heinz tomato soup, Sacla pesto (I know I should make it but I CBA) and a weird shape of Napolina pasta that Mr Scarlet likes and nobody else makes.

I’m Coeliac and all of the supermarket own brand GF breads are better than Genius, I get GF brown rice pasta from Waitrose and GF biscuits from Morrisons.

Yellowsubmarine55 · 22/11/2025 13:33

Morrisons shreddies and wheatabix are far better and cheaper than the branded stuff.

Riverbiscuits · 22/11/2025 13:34

Tesco special K equivalent is good too.

OSTMusTisNT · 22/11/2025 13:36

Asda Weetabix are the best. If they have the rounded corners, they are made in the Weetabix factory. Right angled corners are made elsewhere.

Tesco Fruit and Fibre has a higher % of tasty bits than Keloggs.

All other Cheerios I've tried are awful.

Yes their marmite is better and their weetabix seems the same to me.

TheFairyCaravan · 22/11/2025 13:42

Aldi Shreddies are better than the real ones.

Try Aldi’s Marmite. It’s called ‘Mighty Meaty’ or something. I’ve tried loads of dupes over the years and it’s the first one I’ve found that’s just as good. It also spreads easier.

Gowlett · 22/11/2025 13:57

Tesco Fruit & Fibre is very good.
LIDL Organic Ketchup in the glass bottle.
Loads of others, let me think…

pinkpanther84 · 22/11/2025 13:57

I like Aldi Weetabix

LiveLuvLaugh · 22/11/2025 14:11

Aldi Tomato ketchup is better than Heinz.

FurForksSake · 22/11/2025 14:14

For some time it’s been the case that own brands are just as good as the name brands. We buy very few name brands now, marmite and ketchup and that’s about it.

Lidl extreme cola is a very good Pepsi max substitute.

Fuckitydoodah · 22/11/2025 14:15

Lidl Cereals are pretty decent. I haven't bought branded Cereals for years. They're a complete rip off.

Lidl dishwasher tablets, detergent and loo roll are absolutely fine and save loads.

Aldi do a bottle if Gavi that is 👌
