Finding it hard to switch off after work

Just started a new job on Monday. The job itself is fine, not that stressful and I’m not completing any work outside of working hours. However it’s fully remote, and although I have WFH before, this time around I’m struggling a bit.

Like every day after work this week, I’ve just left the living room and come into the bedroom with a blank head doing nothing until I sleep. No desire to even eat much or watch a show. Or do any life admin. Maybe I just have a bit of brain fog with the recent change in routine? Any advice?

When I last worked from home I took myself out for a walk once I shut the laptop. It kind of made me feel like I was coming home after a day of work. If you can, put the laptop somewhere where you don't see it.

Same as above, I go for a run. Need a physical break.

My old working pattern was hybrid so I’d probably stay home all day when I previously WFH as it balanced with office days. But since starting this remote role, I need to get out and walk daily!

I run a business from home but I dont sit at the computer for long stretches. I make sure I take a break for a coffee, catch up on the news, do a bit of cleaning up, and take regular meals or a shower. I am also one of those people who sleeps in two 4 hour stretches not 7/8 hours at night.

You need to craft a routine for yourself that breaks up the long solid working day. Others have suggested physical activity like a run or a gym visit. You could phone a friend or family member for a chat or just do a bit in the garden. Do you have any pets? They are always a welcome distraction.

I’m so silly - I do have a gym membership, I bought it earlier in the week to start today but totally forgot! it would have been a good way to relax!
