Beautiful signs of children in your home

What are some of the beautiful signs of little people’s lives in your home?

In our home there’s a train track running through the hall leading to a castle made of magnet tiles populated by various little figures. One windowsill has been designated the Sticker Window and there are shiny little stickers all over it- achievements from nursery or from trips to the dentist. There are mucky hand and nose prints on the window. The Yoto player is still jingling away from earlier this morning and there are blankets pegged up around his room to make dens.

Ah i really miss the days when my hall and dining room was an obstacle course of much loved brio train lines!!

Somebody's coming to buy all our Brio in a minute (if he turns up- the joys of Facebook Marketplace 🙄)

Reading this thread, I do realise that I have a dilemma. I really want to paint the stairs and landing, but there's a grubby toddler bare footprint next to the window (no, I'm not sure how he got up there either).

DSes are 10 and 15 now. I think I'll have to paint round it.

The little room near the tv has been turned into a playroom with toys in boxes and stickers everywhere. The fridge displays some of DC’s art. We have things that belong or was made by DC in every room.

I love going to bed to find I'm also sharing my bed with Barbie, Action Man, teddy bear and lots of tiny little Lego men

Lego pieces - Finished and unfinished, odd socks, school uniform dropped on the floor, odd shoes, Yoda left lying on the kitchen worktop and chirping at me when it senses movement, ambient room lights reflected in the hallway, the sound of them giggling and chatting when they gatecrash their brothers room, singing a funny song they all know the words to, popcorn from their film nights, empty milk glasses (Grrr!), silly drawings on scraps of paper, clothing the girls have cut up and redesigned with needle and thread...hot chocolate powder -everywhere-!!

Bluedenimdoglover · 21/11/2025 20:29

Lego bits....

In our back garden we have a wall where all our children and foster children have painted their names over the years. I often sit out there and just feel full of pride looking at all those names 😍

That’s beautiful 🥰 what an amazing thing to have to remind you of all the years with all those wonderful young people

DD is no longer little, but she is a talented artist so I have her pictures up on the walls and baby and toddler photos of her on the mantelpiece.

Does that count?

nush18 · 21/11/2025 20:39

Currently in various rooms there are blu tacked drawings posters advertising a boxing day drawing competition between ds7 and DH

Somewhere, on every single room of my house, even the bathroom, there will be a marble or Lego or both.

Books everywhere - dog man, cat kid comic club, looshkin, bunny Vs monkey... There's always at least one within reach!

Cupofteaforyou · 21/11/2025 20:44

There's a nativity set made lovingly from toilet rolls on the mantle piece alongside some pine cones spuriously coated in glitter 🥰

In my bedroom there's a stray toddler sock on the bedside table and a rubber duck next to my wardrobe 🥰

In the porch there's a "stained glass window" picture made from tissue paper and sticky backed plastic 🥰

Also in the porch there are three sets of wellies - large ones, medium sized ones and small ones that are glittery and light up 🥰

NorthernChinchilla · 21/11/2025 20:54

Where do I even begin?!
Flower modelling clay sculptures on the windowsill, a clay rat, kids' heights marked in pencil on the wall (when we moved house we used tracing paper to copy the old ones, remark on the wall and start up again), a shoe box filled with paints, three canvas artworks, a Saxon shield made as a project during primary school, 957853 certificates on the fridge, a Halloween potato, lego, and a lily in a bottle from today's science school work.

That's just what's in sight, in this one room, at this one moment!

This warmed my heart ❤️ how gorgeous 😍

Crumbs, cuddly toys and dirty muslins everywhere. I have a 6 year old, 4 year old and 3 week old. Spend my time crying and laughing multiple times a day.

Itworkedout · 21/11/2025 21:17

It’s the shoes with teens, plus football boots, tennis rackets etc. Still find random socks on the stairs. Reading this has made me nostalgic I miss the days of cars piled up by the front door and dh thinking our home looked like it had been burgled. Broody perhaps but no.

Novemberbrain · 21/11/2025 21:36

I love the scene in 'outnumbered' where the mum is looking everywhere for a particular document and mutters as she goes through one pile on a table - along the lines of "council tax bill...letter about the raffle...slice of ham?!"

Brendathebear · 21/11/2025 21:36

Aw this is lovely. My 3 dc are all huge teenagers now but we also have the door with lines marked every birthday.

We do also have a littlw sticky man on one of the velux roof windows - he was thrown up about 8 years ago but hes still up there watching us all. When the windows get washed (rarely!), we wash around him.

Novemberbrain · 21/11/2025 21:38

Absolutely love that you wash around him 😍

The bathroom light is always on.

I used to get annoyed but one day had a realisation that some day; I will be found crying on the landing and I’ll sob “the bathroom light is off” then wail some more as my babies will have left!!!

I also often find random sketches and drawings either strewn around the house or in notebooks

Letskeepcalm · 22/11/2025 07:02

The 'little ' pile of toys growing in the corner for when Dgc come. The potty and step in the downstairs loo. Finger marks on the windows from when we're looking for the 'birdies'.

Mummyof2andthatsenough · 22/11/2025 08:49

Cliche but their achievements and memories all over the fridge :)

Nanatobethatsme46 · 22/11/2025 10:29

Random rocks and sticks and other "finds" in most rooms of the house
She gets upset when they are routinely moved into the conservatory
I call.her my little womble as she is forever collecting her finds and bringing them home
Leaves too!

I found a tiny scratch mit the other day. It must have been for my first born as id realised they didn't stay on by the second.
My DC are 16 and 14! It was a lovely reminder of how tiny they once were. Naturally they didn't give two hoots about this cute remnant from their babyhood, it gave me a warm glow though.
