Slow job application response?

i applied for a job with the council. The deadline was last week. How long should I give it before I give up waiting to here back on it?

In my experience it can take several weeks from the closing date to invited to interview.

Hey! Did you hear a response back in the end? I’ve been waiting since 6 October!!! I’m not sure if the council is just notoriously slow or whether the silence means I have not been shortlisted.

Does your council have a portal/ jobs hub. I’ve not heard back via email but did see that I’ve not been successful via the hub - 3 weeks after the closing date. Good luck for your application

Thank you so much, everyone!!! Reading this all has definitely reassured me! I was very much panicking as I am really desperate for this job.

On the councils portal, it still states ‘Application Reveived.’ There is no update from when I submitted my application.
