Calcifications in fibrous lump

Could someone give me some reassurance?

I’ve been to breast clinic today as a precaution as I’ve lost a lot of weight and my fibrous cyst was more prominent.

Ive ended up with coming away being told I have calcified bits in the lump and need a biopsy.
they mentioned cancer and told me to bring someone to my results appointment to “prepare for the worst then anything will
be a bonus”.

has anyone had this and it turned out ok?
I have anxiety anyway so this is making me worse!

thank you!

Hi really sorry you're going through this anxious time. I've had calcifications in the past but was told they were fine. I'm currently waiting for an appointment at the breast clinic as I have a lump that needs investigating. It's been a week and still waiting for my appointment, such a horrible time. I go from being super anxious to feeling calm. When is your biopsy? x

@DearLemurHello thank you for replying. I’m sorry you’re having to go for an appointment!
I got my appointment in 2 days in my area and then the appointment was 13 days later.
my biopsy is Thursday and results 4/12.

good luck for Thursday. I feel like this is going to take a long time for me, that was so quick you had an appointment in 2 days!

ohdoriswheresthesalad · 18/11/2025 21:57

Well it’s weird cos I pushed for an appointment due to anxiety and then this happens makes me think happened for a reason?

I was told nothing would show up everything would be fine and it isn’t

Calcifications can be benign, I think they can be scarring from cysts perhap amongst other things. So it might still be fine, I know it's so hard to remain positive when you have anxiety but keep on going one day at a time. I have times when I think what's the point in getting so worked up when the outcome won't change so just go with it, but then other times I can't eat or sleep as it becomes so consuming.

ohdoriswheresthesalad · 18/11/2025 22:38

I’m exactly the same. It says 65-75% of them are benign but you can’t help but think you’re the minority!

Hi OP no advice I’m afraid but I had a biopsy done back in 2019 which was benign but since I’ve now lost weight my lump now seems bigger and more prominent too. I’ve been trying to push it to the back of my mind but now I’ve seen your post I’m going to make a GP appointment.
Really wish you well 🤞🏼

ohdoriswheresthesalad · 19/11/2025 07:11

@Marble10yes please do.
the lump is still fibrous lump it’s the same size everything is the same as 3 years ago. It’s just the calcification inside the lump which would never have been found unless I had a mammogram !

DearLemur · 20/11/2025 16:54

OP hope the biopsy went ok x

ohdoriswheresthesalad · 20/11/2025 20:13

It was a bit traumatic but I’m ok thank you. Have you heard from your appointment? The nurse said the radiologist wasn’t worried it was anything nasty, she was sure it was benign but as she couldn’t get good pictures from the mammogram she has to order a biopsy as they can’t just be 95% sure it has to be 100%.

oh I'm really sorry to hear that, what is the next stage for you? Sounds like they've caught it super early? I did have my appointment and the lump turned out to be a cyst. It must be a shock for you, I hope you're well xx

Sorry to hear your diagnosis OP, I’ve been in your shoes and you will come through it. Give yourself some grace and talk to your breast care nurse. Also take advantage of any counselling you can get.
💐and 🍰for you and I’m wishing you the very best for your upcoming treatment.
