Well, I've just tried microwaving my swede, as recommended on a 'Hacks' thread and it was bitterly disappointing. I love mashed swede, hate the peeling and cutting and was ridiculously excited to hear that you can just shove the whole thing in a microwave and then peel it.
It did not work. I can't work out whether I'd overdone it, or underdone it, but it was hard, brown and bloody inedible. I was forced to eat extra Yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes instead! 😁
I gave it the recommended 25 mins but sadly it was not right.
