Tummy problems, any advice?

Name change for this and sorry if it’s TMI, but I’ve always found Mumsnet really useful in the past for advice…

I have always wondered / thought that I may have a mild form of IBS as whenever I go to the toilet it’s normally always soft and I do sometimes get the real urgency to go.

However in the last 5 days something has been off. It started off with a bit of tummy pain last Wednesday and a bit of diarrhoea but nothing too bad. However on Thursday it felt like I kept “wet farting” and like I needed to rush to the loo but all that was coming out was just this sort of light brown liquid / mucus, even though it felt like I needed to poo.

On Friday it started off with the wet farts but then quickly moved to sharp tummy pain / cramps which meant I had to URGENTLY run to the loo. They only went after I had been, and it was just diarrhoea.

I couldn’t think of what caused this as I felt otherwise fine in myself. I ate a Nando’s at 9.45pm on Wednesday night so I thought maybe that had set something off - but I’ve never had that before from a Nando’s.

After going to the loo about 3/4 times on Friday morning in a short space of time it stopped and I was fine all weekend - in fact I didn’t go to the loo once.

But then this morning I woke up at 6am and had to run to the loo because I had the same wet farts / urgency to poo sensation. Again it was mostly just mucus but now the tummy cramps have started again.

This is really quite unusual and I’m a little bit thrown about what’s going on, especially as I already have toilet anxiety (as in needing the toilet when out and about and not being able to find one).

I would hugely appreciate any advice or tips people have!

I actually had a similar thing last week with the mucus. It lasted for about 5 days but seems to be gone now

It’s strange and not my usual pattern

How is your fibre intake? I was very much the same (loose stools) and still can be until I made a concerted effort to eat more fibre. I now take psyllium husk every day and that has helped a lot.

Sounds a bit like a bug. Tis the season.

Would it be a bug though if it went away for 2 days?

My fibre intake is shocking 🤦🏼‍♀️
