Looking for a nice cutlery set as a Xmas present for a young family. I was intending to spend about £150. Any recommendations?

Robert Welch is good value and they every item of cutlery imaginable so they can add to it or replace if they lose pieces.

I was going to say Robert Welch too. Wish I had some!

What size of cutlery set are you looking for? I love my Robert Welch stuff. I think I got a 10% discount after signing up to their newsletter as well.

This is the sort I went for:

Be aware though that it does get scratched unless you're super careful and it's pretty heavy. They do some lighter weight options that are a bit less expensive as well.

Thanks I signed up to their website but didn’t get a code. I wonder if anyone has for it and can share it?

It's a lovely idea, but there are so many cutlery styles out there, and what you might think is really nice might not be the same as them! How about a voucher?

Needtosoundoffandbreathe · 17/11/2025 13:43

Depends what you think they'll need, but the Robert Welch cutlery is quite expensive for 5 pieces x6 place settings.

You anywhere near a Boundary Outlet? Fantastic Arthur Price sets and others too.

Have the young family asked for a cutlery set it's a very specific gift.

I would personally get a voucher so they can choose to spend it on something of their choice, whether that's a cutlery set or something else.

Overtheatlantic · 17/11/2025 17:19

Robert Welch is slightly expensive but they will have it forever. Mine is going on 20 years old.

Sprig1 · 17/11/2025 17:28

It's a lovely idea for a present but I would let them choose the set themselves.

We have the Robert Welch Radford set too and it is lovely. It is quite heavy but can go in the dishwasher and has lasted us over 10 years so far.

Bjorkdidit · 17/11/2025 21:46

If they don't already have cutlery they probably have a lot better ways of £150 being spent on them.

We're still using our first cutlery, a couple of £10 sets from Argos, that have been in a dishwasher pretty much every day for 30 years and they're still fine because stainless steel cutlery doesn't really wear out whatever it costs.

Plus what you like won't necessarily be to their taste.

MayaPinion · 17/11/2025 21:48

Do they want a cutlery set?

fouroclockrock · 17/11/2025 21:58

Has to be Robert Welch Radford.

Do they want a cutlery set?

DIL told me she wanted matching cutlery a few months ago so I made a mental note.
