Barcelona in December

We try and get away just before Christmas as a family - 8 of us and the oldest is a sprightly 88 year old.

Anyone spent pre-Christmas in Barcelona?

Not immediately before Christmas but last year and this year we visited and are visiting the first weekend in December. Last year it hit 21 degrees on the Saturday so we spent it at the beach! Although in the city the decorations are absolutely gorgeous but it's not Christmassy at all. Certainly not compared to the likes of Berlin which we've also been to numerous times at the same time of year.

Ah ok. While we aren’t really expecting full on Christmas markets, we are hoping for some festive cheer. Hmm…

I have been in January previously. Still lots of tourists but not as bad as peak season. Weather was lovely.

Definitely didn't experience festive cheer but we absolutely love Barcelona so it was fab for us. There's a couple of very small Christmas markets that actually sell some lovely things, not your usual tat. The decorations are absolutely beautiful especially in the sun as they all sparkle. I do think you'd have a great time.

We were in Berlin last year for the same time (weekend before the 25th) and I found it all a bit tat-mad tbh. As long as there is some creative cheer, then we’ll be happy. Just want to see some history, culture, good food and a little shopping.

Spanish (and Catalans) have lots of own traditions at Xmas. Seek & you shall find signs of their ways of celebrating. their own special foods, Fiesta events, etc.

I've had nice weather in late November in Barcelona, too.

I think we’ll
go for it. Just have to be super organised with our prep so that I’m not stressing while I’m there and anything I buy will be a bonus. I’d better get cracking 😫
