Heated throw help

Walkley18 · 14/11/2025 22:27

Years ago I got a heated throw from Amazon which was great, worked and was hot. It gave up and I have ordered and sent back three to Amazon because they didn't heat up or work or wires could be felt - this after checking reviews and only going for four stars and above. Please can anyone help with recommendations of ones you've bought within the last year that work? Around £40 mark. Doesn't have to be Amazon but want option of returning if not happy. Thanks in advance!

I got mine on qvc and its amazing

And if you buy anything from qvc at the moment you can try it until 31 January. So even if it’s a Christmas present, the recipient has over a month to make sure they like it. Unbeatable retailer in my view

Dreamcatcher
OP - you a buy a new control if the blanket packs up .

Toddlerteaplease · 15/11/2025 20:32

I’ve got one from
Lakeland that’s about 4 years old!

lifeonmars100 · 15/11/2025 20:41

Following with interest, I love a heated throw but every single one I have ever had has never lasted more than a couple of winters. I have bought from Argos, John Lewis, Amazon, QVC and Aldi and they have all packed in, I had the Lakeland one last winter and it lasted all of two weeks! Currently using one from Amazon https://amzn.eu/d/av6lnNT and it is good but I worry about it packing in

Dh brought this one home for me this afternoon.
I've got a Dreamland one for over the bed.
The Dreamland one is thicker & perfect for warming the bed.
The Berkshire one is thinner but plush & pliable so nice for snuggling under on the sofa.

Another vote for Dreamland, I have this one - https://www.boots.com/dreamland-intelliheat-warming-throw-grey-10326213

I had this one and it wasn’t worth the money I actually exchanged one and both were rubbish so got a full refund and bought the ones that I linked to above which are still going strong three years later and I’ve another that is at least 7 years old.

Finchleee · 15/11/2025 21:18

Another vote for the dreamland warming throw posted above. John Lewis sometimes have them on offer too. I’ve bought them for other people who have loved them.

BunnyLake · 15/11/2025 21:21

I’m actually lying under one right now on the sofa. Unfortunately I don’t know where it was from. I wish I’d discovered them years ago.

Yes! 100% wish I’d got one sooner.
I have to leave doors open as we have a puppy who is in and out for a wee etc, so the heating is a waste of money. I just snuggle under my blanket and I’m lovely and warm. I must admit ive had to replace a couple - Slumberland, I think, but the Dpup does climb under with me and I think it could be her claws? I’ll be under my blanket until April😁

I can recommend the Dreamland faux fur ones, and I doubt you'll see a better price in the future than the £49.99 for the zebra one on the link above (although it is that same price at a few shops) . I have a couple of the faux fur ones and have bought for friends and family but at higher prices in the past.

Their thickness means they keep the warmth better than some of the thinner ones, meaning that you don't lose as much energy so they cost less to heat. They look great, wash well and then you can use a brush to restore the fur's silky appearance.

I have the husky, is fab.
It's not silky after 4-5 years - will a brush help after the wash?

Yes! I have the husky one, about 4 years old too..if you use a slicker dog brush on it after washing it will bring it back looking like new. It will take a fair amount of 'hair' out but that's not noticeable on the blanket appearance whatsoever.

We have a couple of dreamland velvet ones. It’s actually really cosy even without turning on the heating element. Perfect for cold nights. I think we’ve had them two or three years.

runningonberocca · 15/11/2025 22:45

Snuggled under a Lakeland one at the moment! We have 3 - love them

StrongLikeMamma · 15/11/2025 22:59

Thanks for the Dreamland recommendations- just bought 2!

One for me and one for my beautiful 83 year old Mamma.

Thanks everyone. @Autumnlife and @Wonderbug81 do the ones you recommend get hot enough? I like the tartan sherpa one but some reviews are saying the heat doesn't go across the whole throw.

I have the Dreamland velvet one. It’s very cosy. Their’s come out as ‘best buys’ on Which? This is its first winter, so I can’t comment on its longevity. I have had a couple of lovely cosy ones in past years, but they each stopped working after two or three washing, I have dogs and cats, so withstanding washing really matters.

Strawberry65 · 16/11/2025 00:17

We had a Dreamland one and it was great until it wasn’t. Had it replaced under a guarantee and then the new one stopped working as well. I’m torn now because I miss the blanket but it feels too wasteful to buy a new one knowing that it will be rubbish in under two years.

PersephoneParlormaid · 16/11/2025 07:30

Ive been thinking of getting one of these, but I remember heated blankets going in fire in the 80’s. Are they OK now, and putting it in the washing machine sounds wrong with wires inside?

Neolara · 16/11/2025 07:33

You need to buy one from Lakeland because they come with a 3 year guarantee and will replace them if they stop working.

MyPeppyCat · 16/11/2025 09:28

I've had an electric under blanket for years and yes, it's fine to wash them - as long as they are sold as washable. Obviously you have to disconnect the plug end from the blanket first. I'm sure heated throws would be fine too (and newer technology than my under blanket. But again, they need to be marked as machine washable).

Hubby and daughter have the Sherpa checked one and they heat up all over the entire throw mine is the older one and is plain red Sherpa and heats up all over too. My two sons have Lakeland ones and again they are fine but Lakeland do not do their on brand ones anymore sadly . I’ve also got a cotton dreamland under blanket on my bed and again works perfectly too. So for me I’d highly recommend this brand time and time again because the quality of the products are amazing.

Madcats · 16/11/2025 11:06

I have a Dreamland Fawn (£100 in 2023 per a quick search of my emails - I think it was originally £129). It's great (but I don't use it every day).

I'm tempted to buy another one at £50, now!
