Anyone else have Covid?

halfpasteleven · 14/11/2025 14:30

We have it in our house this week. Me, DH and 2 Dcs.
It’s a rotten dose! Aches and pains everywhere- even down my thighs, groin and legs..
Coughing, the worst headaches and sinus pain I’ve ever had.
Thankfully GP prescribed medication over the phone so we have plenty to take but it is slow to clear.
I’ve never had it before - it has wiped us. Tested positive on Wednesday and still feeling so weak.
Anyone else have it recently? How were your symptoms?

Yes although I've not tested my colleague has had it last week and I've all the same symptoms. I don't think I've had it before.

Pre 2020 I'd just call it cold/fluey.

CosySeason · 14/11/2025 18:38

I get it every October/November and it always absolutely floors me. I get typical flu symptoms but end up bed bound for days.

Rest up and eat/drink as much as you can.

Lizchapman · 14/11/2025 18:45

Pretty sure I had it in late July - I had all the currently listed symptoms which seemed to rotate so one day it would be the headache , next day digestive symptoms. After that massive nasal congestion’s then two days clearing up then it came back again. Went on almost three months in total. Not fun 😔

got it 7 weeks ago - still coughing. It was like proper flu and went on and on. I’d have a day of feeling better and then go rapidly down hill the next. Hope you get better quicker

Wetunderfoot · 14/11/2025 18:49

What do Drs prescribe for Covid ?

EmiliaRuusuvuori · 14/11/2025 19:04

I had it two weeks ago, with exactly the same symptoms you've mentioned. I've still got a bit of a cough and still feel wiped out but a lot better than I did.

Gentlydoesit2 · 14/11/2025 19:06

What do doctors prescribe?! Surely you just take the usual cold/flu remedies? Ie paracetamol

sexlesshusbandwoes · 14/11/2025 19:07

Medication? Why? It’s just a viral infection

sexlesshusbandwoes · 14/11/2025 19:07

I was lucky when I had it a few weeks ago was just an annoying sore throat

SheinIsShite · 14/11/2025 19:09

DH has had a horrible flu thing this week. Not sure if it is covid or what, as he said knowing the name of the virus isn't going to make him feel any better. There is a lot of this sort of illness around.

landlordhell · 14/11/2025 19:11

We’ve all had some sort of virus but wouldn’t know if it’s Covid. Who’s testing these days?

No one - even in healthcare settings (I work in one), you can work as normal with Covid providing you are feeling well enough in yourself. I think the last test I did (for work) was 2021 when I had a cold and it was still a requirement to test.

There is no medication for Covid as far as im aware (paracetamol if you’re unlucky to feel that ill with it). What type of medication do you have?

AgentPidge · 14/11/2025 20:11

Yes, I came down with it nearly two weeks ago. I would've thought it was just a bad cold, but I had the aching legs, which I've never had before. I'm much better today. I've been taking paracetamol, and Sudafed at night.

JetFlight · 14/11/2025 20:15

I’ve probably got it currently. I hardly ever get ill. I’d had flu twice in my life and since 2020, I’ve had it every flipping year.

sciaticafanatica · 14/11/2025 20:22

What did your gp give you for covid?
you can’t treat covid… hence lockdowns and social distancing in 2020

halfpasteleven · 14/11/2025 22:26

Thanks for the replies.

So for those asking we were prescribed antibiotics, nasal sprays and cough bottles. Prescription strength ones as opposed to over the counter remedies..
Just wish I had more energy.

We only tested as my daughter was keen to know. Neither of us had had it before. I’m very surprised that you got antibiotics though as they don’t work for Covid as it’s viral. We just had flu tablets as the caffeine helped. It’s a bast bug and. 7 weeks is the longest I’ve been ill in ages

DirtyDancing · 15/11/2025 08:33

hope you feel better soon.

Antibiotics? For Covid? Christ no wonder people are building up immunity against these things if GPs are handing them out for viruses. And why should the NHS pay for cough medicine, you can get it over the counter.

LieInsAreExtinct · 15/11/2025 10:06

My partner had it 6-7 weeks ago and his immune system has taken such a big hit he has had one virus/infection after another and is now in hospital having iv antibiotics for eye socket infection following sinusitis and antiviral medication for shingles which has also affected his eye.

landlordhell · 15/11/2025 10:09

I presume a bacterial infection had followed the virus? Antibiotics are useless for a virus.

landlordhell · 15/11/2025 10:11

DD21 now feeling better after coming down with something on Wedbesday She had a fever, face pain, skin tenderness, bloodshot eyes and a productive cough. Has spent two days at home in bed and this morning is up and feeling ok bar the cough. How the young bounce back! She is very fit and healthy normally but commutes to London.

TeenLifeMum · 15/11/2025 10:15

I’ve not tested but pretty certain I have Covid. Thursday night it hit me - high temp and feeling dreadful, aches. I initially thought flu. Friday I worked from home (because I needed to get things sorted and would have been really letting my juniors down) but I did the minimum essentials and napped at lunch. High temp has gone but I’m left with that distinct covid headache and cough. Lazy weekend of rest and recovery is in action.

Obeseandashamed · 15/11/2025 14:15

Pretty sure we have Covid. My youngest has been very unwell with fever since Tuesday - still spiking fevers of over 40. I’ve been the same since ydy. My skin hurts to touch, nose feels blocked, headache, fever & chills, whole body aches & feel absolutely wiped 😭

KateMcN80 · 16/11/2025 02:05

Yes I definitely had Covid. Tested positive and still went to work in an NHS hospital with it. Did not feel unwell therefore could work. We are not supposed to test so did not disclose this information. No proper guidelines anywhere. I felt ridiculous when I was barrier nursing a Covid CONTACT. It’s fucken ridiculous!
