Hello all

Anyone had the bad flu going round?

This is day 8 of being bed bound
No voice
Very painful back
My legs are so weak

My friends say it must be the Covid strain
Not heard of it before

...

It could be covid, but there's a particularly bad strain of flu going around this year, so it might be that.

I'd assume flu unless you've tested positive for covid.
Not heard of a "new strain".

You can buy tests cheaply if you choose to test or if you are around vulnerable people. But there is a bad strain of flu this year so could be that

Yes, if low immunity or around those who are/have previously had Covid-related complications, whether Covid or flu, you're doing the right thing by resting and isolating. I hope you feel better soon.

My adult DS was quite ill 3 weeks ago, he has asthma and his inhalers were not helping at all, got antibiotics from GP for a week, but still unwell, so decided to test and was positive, his GF was also unwell, but she tested negative, but she may well have had it. He still isn’t completely better and is now on an 8 week course of steroids. I’ve told him it would be worthwhile him having the flu vaccine.

Yes, I do, my daughter does, I know quite a few people who still test.
OP you can buy tests for flu too, if you wanted to know.
