Aldi cast iron cookware

The Le Creuset dupes. They've been advertising them for weeks as available today. DH just called into our local Aldi to get a casserole dish and a Dutch oven and they were in stock, but the staff began removing them from the shelves while he was there and by the time he got to the till the items wouldn't scan. The staff said they didn't know what was happened but they'd be told to take them off the shelves.

I've been patiently waiting for this day for months!

Anyone else tried to get one this morning?

No I've sent my dh to go after the school run. I wanted a Dutch oven and casserole dish too.

Fingers crossed he can get them!

I bought a rectangle oven dish a while back - they are very very heavy and only just fit in the oven. Difficult to put in and get back out again as you don’t have enough room to get your hands down the sides to grab the handles.

I bought two Aldi cast iron casserole dishes years and years ago - absolutely love them and still use them regularly.

The griddled frying pan was terrible, everything stuck to it so I gave it away.

Yes it’s fine. I have one, and one of the real thing, and use either depending on size needed.

I bought some a couple of years ago and they are bloody heavy.

I've had mine for about 6 months, it's a gorgeous sage green 💚

I've got some, from a different Aldi. Woohoo!

I realise you have them now OP, but here is mine from aldi.

Its 2yrs old and only gets occasional use. Several times the first year but maybe twice last year. There are also a few chips on the base part. I have no idea why the inside is that colour nor do I recall using utensils which would scratch it. As others have said, it gets incredibly heavy when full, hence I now rarely use it. Lidl do a version also from time to time but I don't know if theirs last longer.

Not seen them in my Aldi yet. They are very good for the price.

Mine is a cream shallow one which is currently cooking shepherds pie for our tea.

I managed to get mine too. Dh had to nip out on his break and grabbed them for me! I previously got a large Dutch oven from Sainsburys for 30 quid and it's still going strong after 8 years. Hopefully these last a good while too. Glad you got yours op.

Have you put it in the dishwasher?

Never.
Are you suggesting I should to get rid of the stains, or a dishwasher could have caused the stains? 🤔

Donated my Le Creuset to the charity shop. Far too heavy for me to handle when taking out of the oven or washing them in the sink.

Bit of cream cleanser like CIF and that'll be like new .

What's the difference between a Dutch oven and a casserole dish? I did Google it but it said they were the same thing.

thisoldcity · 13/11/2025 19:04

I popped out in my lunch break today to get a couple of stoneware roasters, one for me and one for ds and his partner and I'm very impressed with them. I'm a staunch Le Creuset fan, but these seem really good. Nice classic volcanic orange as well! I also got them a small saucepan which seems good. £9.99 small saucepan and £8.99 for the roaster.

SheinIsShite · 13/11/2025 19:07

I have similar from Lidl.
