Carers allowance help and advice

Hello

I am a carer to 2 of my kids. So currently I claim universal credit , its made up of a little to boost dh full time wage, and 2 disabled child element and a carer element.

I was wondering if I should switch to carer allowance for the long term carer duties I'll have past age 16 of my eldest in a few years. I know it will come off the universal credit and that is ok with me.

It just feels like carer allowance is more secure long term ?

I don't know how it all works clearly lol 😆
