Useless dads!!! Why don’t they disappear?!?!

Just so so so wish I had chosen a better father for my DD (15).

He hadn’t seen in her about 3 weeks, offered to pick her up from school yesterday, take her for dinner and stay over (at his mothers as he lives in a flat with his gf - DD has never even seen!)

He didn’t show. She waited in the rain for him. He didn’t answer her calls. She then walked to her grandma’s house close by, still hoping he would call and explain why he was late. Nothing until 7:30pm. Apparently he fell asleep and forgot about her 😔

He bought her a take away on the way home and that was it.

another thing in a long list of crap and disappointment, I wish he would just disappear tbh!

Bloody hell.
That is unforgiveable.

That's a whole pile of shit he's put on your daughter. He's shown her (in his eyes) how worthless and irrelevant she is.
Heart breaking for your girl.

I think 9 times out of 10 men like the idea of having children but not many of them enjoy the reality.

I am heartbroken for her.

I hate him for how much disdain he shows her. He never replies when I text him now.

He doesn’t attend anything at the school never has.

Barely pays CM even though he earns £60k a year (and that was when we were together).

basically doesn’t care about her, but she still wants to see him, she drops everything to see him.

So true! But then he needs to disappear up his own arse for good and stop promising her the world and letting her down. She is absolutely fine without him in my view

Deadbeats are worthless turds. They give good parents a bad name.

I think there needs to be a level of criminality for these parents who make the children but don’t participate in their upbringing.

He’s emotionally neglecting her - in my eyes, it deserves a prison sentence like other forms of neglect.

If it wasn’t for you, where would she be? Why should mums (95% of the time) be solely responsible? The default? The heavy lifters? It makes me so cross.

I suppose at this stage you need to slowly and gently suggest to her that he isn’t going to change and that this really isn’t about her - it’s about his shortcomings. He’s selfish to everyone and there’s nothing she can do to change him.
