For me it is Disturbed's version of Sound of Silence.

I love S and G version, even though I'm a metal head. I love Disturbed even though Dave Draiman can be a bit of a tool and ha e seen them live about 8 times but this cover is just over produced and overplayed. I think it got them a temporary new following of middle aged women! (No shade at middle aged women, I am one myself, well middle aged plus).but the people I saw at the gigs after this song was realeased weren't Disturbed fans!

I don't think it's coincidental that a lot of the songs mentioned upthread are ones that have suffered from chronic overexposure. Bohemian Rhapsody, the terrible Wet, Wet Wet song from the Richard Curtis film, that one from Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves and a whole plethora of hideous Christmas rot churned out from about the 1980s onwards. I'd be seriously happy never to hear a single one of those nauseating songs again in my life.

I also remember a singer called Dido whose songs were the most horrible dirges that all sounded the same: made me want to smash things. She was everywhere at one point.

It really is possible to have too much of a 'good' thing, albeit none of these were very good to start with.

Anything by Taylor Swift

Can't stand Kate Bush and her caterwauling, the song that sounds like, "see see ya see see ya see see ya, oh oh,,," followed by intolerable wailing, I dash to switch it off.

Lol do you mean wuthering heights?

Dancing in the moonlight by Toploader, urg! ! have to turn the radio off if it comes on.

This is my most hated song. I can explain why but it makes me want to punch a wall.

It's a children's song / game from the Caribbean - Boney M didn't write the lyrics.

Must admit I quite like that one too. But I'm going to land myself on the philistine bench now and own that Butterfly is my least-loved opera ever. It's glacial - both in terms of plot and music. Was Puccini having an off-day? La Boheme is much better!

At last, someone else who finds Butterfly a bit tedious! Though I must admit to a preference for operas in which the lady doesn't end up dead.

I hate The Stranglers so hard

I loved the Stranglers when I was a teen and saw them loads live, and had all their albums.
I was really shocked when Golden Brown came out, i mean ,I know its a dark subject but the tune was so mellow! Not what I was used to from them! 😆

It’s the harpsichord sound in Golden Brown that makes it so irritating.

Yes! Hate it. Also hate the Ike and Tina Turner version of Proud Mary. Urgh. Other Tina songs I am fine with.

Hate Tina's version too. (Lisa Simpson's version is not without its charm, though). Oh wait, add 'Simply The Best' and 'Private Dancer' to my enemies' list. 'River Deep–Mountain High' is her tour de force. Should have been a huge hit in the US – surprising. At least it made the Top 20 in Oz.
