School newsletter

Hi,

Looking at creating a school newsletter / way of sending out a summary of info once a week to parents and staff for a new large secondary school.

How does your school do this and do you like it?

My school does a separate one for parents and staff. The staff one has key info for the next week, parents evenings, report deadlines, staff training etc and then any staff member can put something in, e.g. asking for volunteers for school trips. This saves on whole staff emails and keeps it all in one place.

The parent one has reminders of upcoming dates for the term, like parents evenings, non-uniform days, cake sales, INSET.
Then some praise for individual students and stuff like photos from school trips or adverts for the Christmas fair.

My kids' school does not have a weekly newsletter and this means the parents have to have a WhatsApp group which is constantly full of stuff like 'is it non-uniform tomorrow??'

Every Friday, 4.30pm, the newsletter goes out.
it is very detailed about the last weeks events/ achievements etc. it also details upcoming events. This week, there will be a link to the flu vaccinations.

Sorry, should have been clearer. What programme do they use? Sway? Pdf? Text on website?

Hate Sway so am hoping for some other brilliant ideas!

I do our school newsletter and use sway, it’s amazing! I don’t have anything to compare with, but this programme is very effective, so easy to use and imo looks pretty good.

We used Sway and it was shit so we switched back to a PDF.
