What is the best way to regain strength/energy after illness

The title makes it sound more dramatic than it really is.

I have had what is presumably a virus this week, which has floored me. Today is day 5.

I have eaten or drank practically nothing all week as I just didn't have the energy to be in the kitchen.

My husband has been away this week and will be back around lunchtime today, so he can make stuff for me.

Is it best to go for a little and often approach to food, or proper meals, albeit smaller portions than usual?

Is there any variety of food that would help build up strength more than others?

Sorry - these are probably silly questions, but my brain just isn't functioning at the moment.

Just get back to eating. There is no need to limit portions if you are now feeling well enough to eat. Just good, wholesome nutritional food to get your energy back.
I hope you feel better soon.

Just do what you would usually do.

Just get back to normal eating and drinking- it sounds like you are dehydrated. Get enough sleep, get some fresh air in the mornings, keep warm and don't run around too much this weekend.

Bottle of Lucozade original

Thank you.

The problem is that I have no appetite, and just don't want to eat. I feel I need something that will "pack a punch" if I have it in small amounts, to kick-start me again. But hopefully now my husband is home, he can entice me with peeled grapes, etc 😊
