Top Danish Risalamand (rice dish with a cherry sauce)
Eton mess -I just love this
Joint thired. Raspberry pannecotta and Creme bruele

Dh was surprised I didnt add pie and custard but Im.not a great pastry fan. (Though I do love Waitrose cherry pie)

Pavlova
A good crumble with cold custard.
Sometimes creme brulee

Those are really the only puddings I like. I'm more of a savoury person or just a simple bar or chocolate.

Yum!

Sticky toffee pudding or crème brûlée

Ineffable23 · 06/11/2025 20:50

Depends on the time of year...

Any time: creme brûlée, cheesecake

Summer: pavlova but mainly made by me because the ratios often aren't right

Winter: sticky toffee pudding

Syrup sponge with custard. Doesn’t matter how fu I am, if it’s actually on the menu (rare these days) I find space!

love jam roly poly and pancakes (ideally with raspberry jam) too.

MrsTJOsbornee · 06/11/2025 20:56

Tiramisu any day of the week and Black Forest Gateaux but only for Christmas Day.

clearveil · 06/11/2025 20:56

A fresh handmade black forest gateau is nice. I also like ice cream and fresh fruit or a baked pear. I quite enjoy a hot cold combo so hot rhubarb or apple crumble with cold ice cream. Traditional baked rice is lovely as well.

Tana433 · 06/11/2025 20:57

Sticky toffee pudding or that chocolate concrete cake that we used to get at school. Ive never had it since but i can still taste it 40 years on!!

Squidgoals · 06/11/2025 21:00

My favourite dessert is proper chocolate mousse, made with egg and no cream. Restaurants rarely do it, I make it myself once a year.

BookSmith · 06/11/2025 21:00

I don’t have a sweet tooth, and I’m far too snobby to call it dessert - but if I were forced, it would be my own lemon and lime cheesecake.

Sticky toffee pudding or crème brûlée

Oh I forgot about crème brûlée or panacotta 😋

mondaytosunday · 06/11/2025 21:40

I don’t like anything with cooked fruit, other than my late mother’s Christmas cake. Texture counts for a lot, and I think one of the worst desserts ever invented is trifle - the jelly, cold custard, fruit and sponge combo just turns my stomach.
I LOVE Minetry’s Miracle, which is kind of like a tiramisu but with crushed amaretti and chocolate and crushed pecans (no coffee) with lady fingers soaked in bourbon.
A good old American ice cream sundae is hard to beat (coffee ice cream, hot fudge, warm marshmallow fluff, nuts). A good brownie, a moist cake - those are my favourites.
My mother used to make an out of this world creme caramel.

Heyhelga · 06/11/2025 21:41

Apple crumble with custard 😋 also like a good chocolate moose. Some vienetta at Christmas too.

This reminds me - I have a receipt for a triple chocolate mousse somewhere made like that! Haven’t made it since we moved house (so over 16 years now) but it was soooo good. I might have to hunt the recipe out. I hope I still have it!

AutumnClouds · 06/11/2025 22:58

Cheesecake with a good layer of berry compote on top, a supermarket one will do

Homemade apple crumble (with a bit of sherry in the apples and a bit of ginger in the crumble), with custard

Pavlova with good chewy/liquidy bits in the meringues and a good mix of sweet and tart berries and thick pouring cream

Daaaaaark thick chocolate mousse with a dusting of bitter cocoa

Creme brulee

A really boozy trifle

Christmas pudding with brandy butter

Affogato

Turkish delight icecream

Someone stop me help

Can I have a cheeseboard, with Gruyère, Stilton, emmental, smoked cheddar, pont l'eveque, Gouda, Boursin. A ton of grapes, some grissini and a large glass of red wine.
Thank you

Creme brulee
Panna cotta
Any crumble and custard
Basque cheesecake
Parfait of any kind
My mother's rice pudding but I did try Risalamand in Copenhagen last winter and it was very good!

When I was a kid I loved jelly and evaporated milk and fruit and butterscotch instant whip 😋

JoeTheDrummer · 07/11/2025 18:33

Summer - Eton Mess
Winter - Apple crumble with 50/50 ratio of fruit & topping

I recently read an interview with a top chef (I think it was Angela Hartnett) and she said at dinner parties she serves maltesers with a brilliant quality vanilla icecream for dessert, and ever since I’ve really fancied having that! Simple but so lovely (but I do think I’d be a bit disappointed if I went to dinner at a top chef’s house and that’s what they made!).

NotableI · 07/11/2025 18:34

My husband makes a plum and rosemary crumble which is incredible.

Trishyb10 · 07/11/2025 18:37

What,s Manchester tart? X

Edwinstarrihavefaithinyou · 07/11/2025 18:44

Rhubarb tart
Ginger cake and custard.

ACatAsleepInYourHat · 07/11/2025 18:52

Favourite dessert? Well, speaking as someone who has been known to eat cold rice pudding straight of of the tin, it’s a tough choice for me. It would be easier to tell you what isn’t a favourite, but off the top of my head -

New York cheesecake
Creme brulee
Apple pie and vanilla ice cream
Apple pie and custard
Jam roly poly and custard
My late mum’s steamed suet pudding and custard
Old-fashioned baked rice pudding with cinnamon and sultanas
Yorkshire curd tart (sadly unheard-of here in darkest Merseyside)

No wonder I have weight problems.
