Coming through the flu and now been left with awful cough and thick phlem.

Worse at night, constantly coughing keeping me and everyone else awake.
Going away this weekend and feel exhausted.

Drinking constant cups warm water, honey, lemon. Spitting up as much phlem as I can. 3 high pillows. Even tried Vicks on my feet!

Any ideas how to get rid or at least ease it? Guessing cough mixture wont helo

I ALWAYS get a post viral cough, and keep Night Nurse handy exactly for this. Definitely makes a world of difference for me!

Night nurse suppresses a cough. I'm not sure if it's advisable if you have thick phlegm though. That shit needs to come up. I appreciate you're probably being driven mad.

Yeah spitting out the phlem day and night..literally a cupful everyday! Might nip to Boots tomorrow and ask them if nightnurse will help even if its for the odd night.

Dont do that. A pharmacist told me by accident. My face must have lit up like a pin at machine at the news, but the damage was done. They won't sell you it if they know you want it to stop coughing.

Antihistamines

What these help coughing?

Apparently antihistamines do help with coughing. The reason I’m up at 2am is because I ran out so couldn’t take one last night 🤦‍♀️

I always suffer with this and had a post covid ‘productive’ cough for 7 months this year. The only thing that finally cleared it up was taking Tigers Milk mushroom capsules and Mulleon tincture. I have tried absolutely everything else including antibiotics, but finally after 7 months that’s what cleared it for me.
good luck, I know how miserable and gross it is!

My FIL has just started drinking mullein tea. He has a constant cough from COPD, has suffered for years, but he says this is really helping to loosen his phlegm and bring it up and his cough has eased considerably.
