Do see-through thermal or insulated curtains exist?

I have a very large “decorative” window in my hallway which is secondary glazed but still lets the cold in (and heat out) so it makes everywhere freezing!

Is there such a thing as a thermal or insulated curtain I can use which wouldn’t block the light but would keep heat in and the cold out? I’ve tried googling and just got more confused! I wouldn’t want black out fabric.

Thanks - I’ve posted in Home Decor too.

Not quite what you asked for but would window insulating film work?

It actually sticks to the windows these days, not like the, "Opened out plastic bag held on by masking tape" style of years ago. Apparently, you can hardly see it.

Thanks - I think this might work! Anything that helps even a tiny bit. It’s so cold by the window I can feel the heating £££ just going literally straight out! Thanks again!

Or there's these which are real curtains:

Or you could have both, I suppose. With these to hide the plastic?

Just an idea. These look a bit shower curtain-ish and don't come in many sizes.

I like the idea of insulating film. But how does it stick to the window frames?

Redheadedstepchild · 04/11/2025 17:42

Quick youtube vid explaining how. Probably not the best one but enough to set off the algorithm so that you'll get plenty more.

I did notice one comment: "My cat would destroy those five minutes after I'd finished."

"Oh, yeah." I thought. That window film is not very pet proof.
