My ex heard Common People by Pulp and said "this song is so offensive I can't believe they are still playing it on the radio"

Turns out he'd heard it as "Coloured people" which is of course deeply offensive

In "Vincent" by Don McClean I thought for ages that "on the virgin snow" was"on the virgin's nose". Always thought it was a bit peculiar.
