Premier inn booking query

We have always used premier inns and travel lodges. Looking to book London next Easter as a family dh, myself and 2 daughters. However both children now 19 and 16. We are happy to all be in one room however booking site says children for family room age 15 and under. How strict are they on this and do they ever check?

The staff really don't get paid enough to care. Just don't make it too obvious on check in and you'll be fine. If anyone asks, they're 15 and 14, and because they're that age, it's not like they'll have any ID like a driving licence on them to be able to prove it.

DD has been 15 for the last 3 years whenever we stay in a Travelodge or Premier Inn.

Last time we went down for breakfast the next morning, hadn't booked it, and the manager asked how old DD was. We forgot to lie and said 17. He looked me dead in the eye and said "She's 15, which is good because kids eat free"

Last time I used Premier Inn there was an iPad at the desk to register your arrival and it spits out a key card. The machine failed so had to ring a bell for a person to help, but otherwise no one would have known who I was. Just leave the kids in the car while you get the key.
