Collecting a gift sent via Evri

Anybody have experience of collecting an Evri parcel that does not have their name on it?

We’ve sent ds a time-sensitive gift via Evri, which he will have to pick up from a local Tesco Express. When we ordered the gift, the only identity info asked was billing address, so we put down dh’s name and our home address, exactly as linked to our credit card, thinking that we would forward the emails to ds. That way he would have the collection code.

Now we see from Googling that photo id is needed to collect the parcel. So will ds be able to collect it? We can’t find out whether the photo id has to confirm the id of the person collecting, or whether it is to ensure that only the purchaser collects.

Anybody know for sure?

Give it a try first, my local collection shop don’t always ask for ID. Sometimes they do, other times they ask the first line of the address. Sometimes they don’t ask anything. I’d just say “collecting a parcel for “dads name” please”

I have fussed over id before and given DC passports or driving licence
They have never been checked
Just use the surname if all same surname in family - they do t seem bothered beyond that for the most part

Send a photo of your passport or DL to DC ?

I’ve FaceTimed before when one of my dc couldn’t collect a parcel. I didn’t even show my id just told the chap it was my parcel. Most of the time nobody looks though. Especially when you have a code. If he’s got the same surname I wouldn’t even give it another thought and if he hasn’t I’d be surprised if it was an issue.

This is ridiculous. Dh has forwarded the emails and has the same surname as ds. But the shop are just not allowing ds to pick up the parcel.
