SLT Event - any advice?

Currently relocating and I have seen a networking event for an SLT role.

I find these type of events tricky, mainly because I find it hard to find a balance. I would want to go in and discuss my own experience and what I’ve done to shape my department thus far and that

I’ve researched the school, I’ve explored their ethos, history and their strong focus on social mobility and the importance they place on this. I’ve also looked at how they nurture leaders. I’ve read the person spec. I’ve seen what lines up with my experience and where I may need to be coached.

I have my list of questions to ask. However, I would appreciate any advice from anyone in SLT or those of you that have hosted/been to events such as this.

What should I do to make a positive first impression? I’m well aware that some of you will question my motives for this post and assume I should just know what to do, however I don’t, and I’m always a bit anxious when it comes to events such as this, so I thought it may be useful for me to get some advice from as many people as possible!

I work in corporate life so don’t really understand what the event is - is it hosted by the school as a sort of first stage interview??

There's a 'networking event' to apply for a job in a a school as part of the Senior Leadership Team. An actual event? What kind of school is this? It's SLT, not MI5. How odd. I wouldn't go, because that level of wankiness is weird and unnecessary, I've never jumped through such hoops for a job before (and yes, I'm on SLT).
