@Arlanymor yes the ferry is still operational between sandbanks and Studland, a man drove his Bentley into the sea from the haven hotel a few weeks ago (not deliberate) not sure what it’s called though. I have colleagues that live in swanage but they don’t use it as it’s quite pricey now. It gets taken off for quite a few weeks off season for maintenance.

ETA your memory is superb, I have just looked it up it’s called The Bramble Bush Bay

I impressed myself with that partial memory! That would have been 2009 I think... good to hear it is still going, despite the cost.

Sam Elliott in roadhouse. In 1989 I just thought he looked so old. Now I look at him then - now - and think bloody hell he was gorgeous

Hugh Grant
In 4 Weddings and a Funeral and in Notting Hill he's a bumbling upper class twit.
In Love Actually ( the dance bit ) he's as hot AF

DD and I are going to see it at the cinema , Hugh Grant on the big screen <phwoar >

Apacketofbiscuitsaday · 01/11/2025 21:39

Yes to Tom Selleck. Also Timothy Dalton.

Sam Elliot was always gorgeous. Same with previously mentioned Paul Newman and Robert Redford.

I have had a thing for Anthony Quinn since I was about 6 ! Ever since I saw "a High Wind in Jamaica" but so many of the film stars of those days were really handsome. James Mason, Cary Grant, Audie Murphy, Howard Keel to name a few.

Me too!

Who else shall we add to the list? Or shall we just share those three…

My DD adores Hugh Grant (favourite film - Notting Hill). We saw a photo of him in the NPG taken just before he hit the big time in Four Weddings. My god, he was totally beautiful - still does nothing for me, though

You need to watch him in ‘The Big Easy’ then!

Adds 'The Big Easy' to my watch list...

waitingforthehallmarkedman · 01/11/2025 22:04

Frank sinatra, Elvis, Cary Grant...

Sandyshandy · 01/11/2025 22:22

The dad from twilight

Billy Burke…. he’s best friends with Jeffrey dean morgan so that’s a great combo 🫠

whysorude · 01/11/2025 22:46

Didn't really appreciate either Aidan Quinn or William Petersen when I was younger

When i first began watching Supernatural 20 years ago I thought the brothers were pretty hot. Am doing a rewatch and now realise Jeffrey Dean Morgan as their dad was the fittest one in it 😁

James Mason. Born 1909. Gorgeous.

Edited

James Mason: that voice! All that and a bit more. In a league of its own.

Plus those dark, almost sullen, brooding good looks.

The man was (genuinely) unique. Looked better than Stewart Granger in Regency clothes in all those Gainsborough films.

I read a biography about him and he was actually a bit of an odd bod - nothing nasty - but I would have happily accepted that.

Tom Selleck! I thought he was hairy and hated the whole moustache. Now I can see with my adult eyes that he was hot! And Jon Bon Jovi. All I saw in the day was hair and a style of music I didn’t like

Jon Bon Jovi was in a few movies and he was surprising good in them. Plus looked stunning.

The young David Soul was spectacular before he self destructed.

Back in the day, I was a young teen and the conversation was whether it was Starsky or Hutch. I fancied Starsky, Soul was Hutch

ChimpanzeeThatMonkeyNews · 01/11/2025 23:28

Terence Stamp was off the chart handsome. Jesus, those eyes!

OMG yes - a thousand times yes to this. When he tells her that her luck is about to change 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Squirrelsnut · 01/11/2025 23:46

I watched Alien for the 20th time yesterday and realised Tom Skerrit (Captain Dallas) was rather delicious.

Dennis Quaid in the 90s - particularly in The Parent Trap. That was one of my comfort movies as a teen, and as far as I was concerned, he was just the dad. I watched it with my own DCs a few weeks ago, and I couldn't believe how hot he was!

Totally agree.

Not an actor but Prince William. I was a bit young to be a fan when he had teenage girls/young women swooning after him and never really noticed it but looking back he was so gorgeous when he was young.

MotherOfShihTzus · 02/11/2025 00:01

Harrison Ford, Viggo Mortensen 👌
