Going "off grid"

I feel like going off grid some weekends. Week times can be super busy with working FT, DC, hobbies, getting DC to hobbies, school drops, doing dinners, top up food shopping. I could happily mooch around at home for a weekend.

I have a friend who would not understand what so ever. I'll have to make an excuse for why I'm not around. I just want to shut the door to the world for a few days without having to explain myself.

What do you do instead?

I would mooch, bake, watch movies, chill,. Work out (home gym)

as you lost what you do during the week

how old are your kids?

I think we all have ‘stop the world I want to get off’ moments. Totally normal.

And you get zero opportunity to do these things over the weekend? How old are your children?

How often are you seeing this friend that you’d need to explain it to them? You’re not answerable to friends… just don’t pick up the phone/respond to texts if they call that weekend, surely?

I think you mean switch your phone off.

GagMeWithASpoon · 02/11/2025 08:14

Most of my weekends are like that. I just tell people I’m busy/I have plans .

WonderlandWasAllAHoax · 02/11/2025 08:19

What’s stopping you from doing those things now? Practically all my weekends are like that.

what are your weekends looking like now?

You don’t have to make excuses. You don’t owe anyone your time. If she doesn’t understand that sometimes people just want some space and to be uncontactable for a while then she’s not actually a friend.
